 Recently returned from a few days away at Daisy Bank Caravan Park in Powys. We had a Premium Pitch for the views (which were glorious), and the staff there were lovely very friendly and helpful, they show you to your pitch and explain how to position the caravan so it’s exactly level (by driving it onto the pitch).
However there were a few things that we weren’t so impressed with. The pitch itself sloped quite a lot from front to back which meant that when the van was positioned to take advantage of the view our drainage pipes (Collapz) had to go uphill so the water from the sink simply wouldn’t drain in the end I took the pipes off and just let the water drain straight out onto the hard standing (which I wouldn’t normally do but we hadn’t got our waste water carrier with us as it was a fully serviced pitch).
The pitch itself was ok but was just basically an area of very rough hard standing, they are well spaced out so you’re not on top of your neighbours, but there are no dividing hedges or privacy which we felt a little uncomfortable with as a couple in a camper van opposite spent the whole weekend staring straight at us.
The facilities blocks were kept clean (which was good) but they are looking very tired/dated and in our opinion are definitely in need of an upgrade. There was a selection of wet rooms and also several separate loos.
The electric is metered and they give you £3 per night for free and then you have to buy more (via a card) if you need it which we did. Any used ‘extra’ can be refunded at the end of your stay. The amount you’ve got left is shown on the meter where you plug in so you have to keep checking it - not the best system we felt as you had no way of knowing if you could potentially runout when you were out for the day or overnight.
There is a quite large Co-op a few miles away which stocked quite a few things (not that cheap though) but if you want one on the major chains you’re looking at about a 12 mile drive. There was a very nice Chinese Restaurant in Church Stoke called the Golden Fish but if you want actual fish and chips (which we did on our arrival evening) again you’re looking at a 12 mile drive we went the Friends Fish Bar in Minsterly worth it as it turned out as the food was lovely and the chips were ‘enormous’.
There are a few nice local villages to visit and Welshpool in particular was interesting but don’t go on Sunday as Sunday Trading doesn’t seem to have reached that neck of the woods ?? Powis castle is definitely worth a visit (but double check it’s open)
The site also has a lot of seasonal vans on the site which is fine we don’t have a problem with that per se but quite a few obviously haven’t been visited or cleaned for a long time which kind of added to the slightly shabby/unloved feel of the whole site not what we expected from a Tranquil Parks site (we’ve visited a lot of them). Would we go back, honestly I don’t think we would.

This is the first time we have been to this site, the location is great with stunning views and scenery and small towns close by to visit. Easy access to the site from the main road although the signage could be better to make the turning more obvious.
The site itself is nice. There is a security barrier which is coded to come in and out. The reception we were given was very friendly and welcoming. Luckily we were able to change the pitch we were originally booked to go on due to a cancellation which we were relieved about as the original pitch was in full shade and next to a seasonal caravan that looked like no one had been to it for a very long time.
This is the only thing that we felt let it down. It’s fine having long term residents but the caravans should be cleaned, otherwise the site will end up looking run down. There seemed to be a lot of long term stayers.
The shower and toilet block were immaculately clean and we like the idea that they were individual wet rooms giving you privacy, space and somewhere to put your things while in the shower. They were hot and there is no silly button to keep pressing to keep the shower going.
We have a dog and the dog walk was great for her, we were able to let her off without the worry, she was secure.
A lot of the pitches do seem to be on a bit of a slope although we were lucky ours was quite level.
They are all fully serviced but there is a meter for the electric with a £3 per night credit when you arrive.
Although WiFi is available it was very intermittent and not a particularly strong signal.
Our pitch did not have the TV Ariel plug in but we managed to get a good signal from the caravan Ariel.
We would use again as long as the available pitch was in full sun.

A nice site, wonderful views,
Some pitches as did ours slope make sure you have the kit to help.
The area where you empty toilet waste was in need of a full renewal.
Site staff were very helpful.
The shopping area about 2miles away had everything you would need.

Very friendly staff. Park is immaculately maintained and the views across the Camlad are lovely. TV reception is patchy.
Facilities were clean and rubbish bins were regularly emptied and kept tidy. The Daisy diner food was good.
We tried a breakfast and the fish & chips and they were great. Small shopping centre with petrol station a couple of miles away in ChurchStoke.
Only downside for us was the number of seasonal pitches which there are which gives it a bit of a static park feel for us, but that is simply a personal preference thing.
The site is in a good location for exploring mid Wales.

Excellent all round. Great showers.
Food on site was very tranquil and the dog walk is one of the best I've seen worth a visit.

We loved this peaceful, well maintained and attractive site.
Staff were cheerful and helpful, pitches are large and well spaced, the grounds are well kept, views from the site are amazing and shower/ toilet facilities were spotless.
We took advantage of the opportunity to order freshly baked croissants and newspapers as well as the weekly fish and chip drop off.
The owner, Mark was friendly and open to suggestions for items to add to the shop. We enjoyed our experience so much that we are returning this weekend.

A very very tired campsite needing some money spent on it to bring it up to scratch.
Pitches need attention as weeds etc growing in abundance. The CDP is filthy as is one of the rubbish/recycling areas. In certain fields tv reception is dire.

For a start I love Bishops Castle and to me the Daisy Bank caravan site is the icing on the cake! I first used it a couple of years ago using my daughter's van and loved it so decided to buy my own caravan last September.
I planned on having a seasonal pitch but due to work being carried out on the site there is only doing storage for the time being, so this means I just phone them whenever I want to use my van and hey presto there it is waiting for me! I do hope to have a seasonal pitch when the time comes as then my van will be permanently in place!
What do I love so much about Daisy Bank? Well there are some great dog walks, the lovely views from the caravan, the site dog run (which is on the doorstep), the friendly and helpful owners and staff, the friendly holiday-maker's (being all animal lovers of course), the clean and well presented toilets and showers, the layout of the vans (they are not in a perfect row like some sites) and how peaceful it is if I think of anything else I'll come back and tell you later!

Booked as seemed ideal for us as told loads of walks and the nearest pub was a mile away.
Walks yes a good few about but the pub was either 3. 4 miles over the fields on a great but barely used path or 2. 2 miles along a 60mph road with no footpath.
We used an OS app to walk but without it and no maps from reception I would go with caution which is a shame as it’s a nice walk.
The site is fine, good sized pitches and some like ours had great views over the valley. Many pitches are seasonal so it was quiet despite lots of vans around you.
Facility wise, 5* once maybe but not anymore, the new toilets are old and the old ones older, not cleaned properly as full of cobwebs, seemed as though the daily clean was just the sink and toilet nothing more, and it showed.
The Dog walk was great as was the information hut but the Reception area was shall we say like many things, tired.
Our view was it must have been great 5 years ago but the owners have been treading water ever since, it’s suffering due to lack of time and effort and attention to detail.
Needs a good kick to get it back up there.

Shame that this site has really gone down hill. We've visited regularly the past few years but this one will be our last. There's no excuse not to have ANY loo roll in the loo's on a Sunday morning and a chemical loo waste that is backing up due to a blockage (I've read about this before so why hasn't the problem been addressed) 5* once but not any more. Such a pity
