 I loved this site. It is far enough away from roads and towns/villages to be very quiet and secluded.
I was solo camping on this trip in my back-packing tent, so was also grateful for the nice level pitches! There’s nothing more frustrating than sliding down your sleeping pad throughout the night when the pitches are sloped.
The site has everything you’d need on site - with a small shop, and a pub that does food for a few hours per day.
It has all the facilities you could need - toilets, showers, dishwashing and clothes washing. And everything was clean and warm.
To cap it all, I spent a day hiking in the wonderful Thorpe Forest - which is why I came. There are several excellent walks directly from the camp site - so no need to drive anywhere.

Stayed on pitch 233 near to the kids play park with EHU and water nearby for a couple of nights with our 3 year old grandson.
First time at this site. Very bumpy track to reach the site.
Very nice welcome from reception and clear instructions of the site facilities. Pitch was fine and plenty big enough. Toilets and showers all clean. Nice bar and there was entertainment such as bingo and a disco.
They advertised a kids disco from 7pm, however this only went on for 30mins and was nothing special which was a shame.
TBH, the site was too noisy for us. Too many kids on bikes being loud, but that might be as we are getting older!.
Probably be more suitable once our grandson is a little older.
Pool looked good, you have to book your session at 9am for the day you want to use it. Hourly slots and there was a queue.
Not sure if I would go again?

Our first visit to the site in ten years and now with new owners. We wanted to be fairly close to East Harling for a special family birthday party.
The welcome from one of the new owners was lovely, he explained that they were doing some improvements to the site and hoped that it would not spoil our visit.
The site was not at all busy, being almost the end of the season there. Our hardstanding pitch was perfect for us with EHU. It was a short stroll to the facility block which was nice, clean and lovely and warm throughout our 3 night stay.
There are additional toilet and shower blocks to help cope with busier periods.
We called into the on site pub/bar/ club briefly early on two of our nights, once with four of us in full fancy dress, on our way to the party. We were made to feel very welcome and it seemed the staff really enjoyed our presence.
We were advised at reception of the best walking route to East Harling, which was easy to follow, about a 40 minute steady walk, and very pleasant.
The local East Harling Taxi company (drivers Toby and Stacey) were fantastic, they were used several times and were faultless and friendly, but would need booking in advance.
We ate at the Nags Head a couple of times it was superb, especially the Sunday roast.
Dower House is a campsite that at the moment is going through a transitional period, heading into their closed season. However, that did not spoil our time there and things sound promising for the future under the new owners.
It was nice to see and hear the various wildlife and enjoy the peace and quiet at this time of year.
The on site shop, sold a selection of essentials. We really enjoyed our weekend at Dower House.

Lovely forest location. Nice bar serving good food from a small menu. Friendly staff. Large pitches. Nice swimming pool and play areas for the kids.
Great walks around the site.
Village with a late opening Co-op not too far away.
Shop doesn’t stock things like bread and milk but does have stuff like insect repellent.
Showers have very tepid water and could do with some upgrading.
Shortage of plugs in the washing up room.
Annoying and noisy when staff driving round the site on a quad bike early in the morning.

Lovely peaceful site. Only 3 units on the first day/night. Facilities fine and clean but water temp far too hot in ladies shower first morning. Just a glitch?
This is a forest campsite with a very bumpy forest access road. You have been warned but just go slowly. Lots of bitey flying things. We were well bitten. Forgot the bug spray.
Club house served a limited but tasty menu and reasonably priced drink. Swimming pool looked great but we didn't use it.
We left on a Saturday morning as schools broke up for summer on the Friday evening. Thank God we did. We were on a hardstanding adjacent to the play area and it was beyond 10pm when kids were still out making a racket. Hey that's life but they were noisy.
All in all a nice place to stay fantastic for families/kids. Shop small hug dold what we needed. No complaints overall. Special mention goes to Darren whose personality really helps the day go better so we'll done you

Beautiful location, no traffic noise whatsoever,
Bring your own food as shop is very limited,
Facilities dated and grubby, need a thorough clean in every block,
The swimming pool would be a definite return, but facilities doubtful

Full disclosure : we stayed during the 2022 heatwave. No green grass to be seen. Shade was hit & miss for the pitches.
Very hard ground with sandy surface made it tricky to get our tent pegs in.
Pool water was cloudy, which seemed off-putting but we had no issues.
Ablutions block was cleaned regularly but could use some updating or repairs - a couple of washing-up sinks didn't work, dryer & washing machine both partly out of action during our stay.
Shop was small and didn't always have bread & milk (the very basics).
I would recommend this campsite only for a short break (3/4 nights) rather than for the fortnight we stayed.

All in all very nice,
Unfortunately the showers were cold late afternoon,
The outdoor swimming pool is a great little touch especially as it was very warm when we stayed.

Just fabulous setting and congratulations to the team for keeping it that way. Massive pitch making it very easy to set up.
Totally dog and children friendly with pitches in adult areas. Wonderful walks through forest paths and of beat tracks on site shop open all day for those essentials and a lovely bar and restaurant (food great)
All in all a first class idyllic location for all dog lovers and ramblers and also fantastic site for children as you can pitch around the park next to swimming pool making it easy to maintain security of children always playing in sight

We wanted somewhere local to try our caravan for the first time.
We loved the site - beautiful forest with great walks, pool and the food vans are a brilliant idea.
My only criticism would be the road into the site. It is full of potholes and very bumpy. 5mph tops if you want to keep your wheels!

Bear in mind that facilities were not yet fully open due to Covid-19 requirements. That said, the staff were very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel welcome.
The food choice was limited but we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The track through the forest was far better than some previous reviews had suggested that they might be.
There are certainly innumerable trails nearby and the going was pretty easy. We'll be back

Lovely location the roadway approach could do with some attention very dusty and bumpy mile long track leading to site.

Stayed here for 3 nights with electric.
We stayed here with friends n we both have boys 8/9yrs old and a 1yr old baby. Boys like the park.
Pros:
We were put in a double pitch in Ash which was great (lots of space).
Site is clean.
We were met by a young guy (tied Dark wavy hair) who was very friendly, polite n helpful.
Plenty of walks surrounding the campsite.
Kids enjoyed the park.
Cons:
Road to the campsite is is BAD. 5mph if you don't want to damage your car. Potholes needs filling!
Amenities could be updated!
Some of the staffs could smile and be more friendly.

Booked this site as a last minute due to Anglesey catching the end of the ISA hurricane.
On site facilities are good and you get a great welcome from the staff at reception. Shown to our pitch and the site explained.
The pitches are set in small fields boarded by trees and bushes so it does not seem too big even though it is. The site is in the middle of a Forrest so some great walks with the dog.
Can’t comment on the pool as it closed the day before. Pub open Friday and Saturday while we were there.
Would I go back? Probably not due to the very very bad and potholes road which is about 3/4 mile long. This shakes the begibers out of the caravan and is sure to do some damage.
