 We spent a great week on this small peaceful site on the outskirts of Bellingham. The bathroom facilities were spotless, and an alternative loo is available when they are shut for cleaning.
The reception and shop is well stocked and you can borrow laminated walking routes.
The site staff were welcoming and friendly. There's a campers kitchen which has a microwave and 2 ovens and 8 gas rings. There's also a lounge and a games room.
Bellingham is a lovely town with several pubs, Co-op supermarket, post office, hardware store and craft gallery. The heritage centre is very interesting and the nearby waterfall was pretty.
We cycled most days. There are some great quiet roads nearby but it is very hilly.
Midges can be a problem, so take repellent and a midge hat if you have to cook outside!
NB the review from ginger freckles in September 25 appears to be for a different site.
I understand that this campsite will soon not be part of the Camping and Caravanning Club, but we are glad that it will carry on being a superb independent site, which we thoroughly recommend.

Love this site nice friendly staff, facilities are spot on nice dog walk around edge of site.
Plus 10 min walk in to belingham village where pubs cafe petrol station and also a nice micro brewery too

Lovely location, very good welcome/briefing of facilities from wardens.
Good toilet block and motor home grey waste.
Very nice site.
We will visit again for a longer holiday.

Our second time at this campsite. Perfectly adequate for our needs.
Love being based on a working farm, whilst also being so close to the village amenities.
Noisy extractor from local takeaway continues, but there's nothing the owners can do about this, and they do warn you on arrival.
Be sure to check out the local microbrewery - a real treat.

Easy access to site if you follow their suggested route. Google seems to get confused where it is!
Good facilities though my husband wasn't impressed to have a cold shower the first day. Easy to meet friends if they stay at the lodges next door.
Riverdale hotel served great food and we took up the offer of a free swim there as we had dined there.
There is a dedicated space to park in if you come back late from Kielder observatory which can be reserved in advance.
The main issue we had was the road noise - we asked for a pitch away from the road but turns out it wasn't! It's a busy B road so this would stop us from returning here unfortunately.

The site was quite easy to find as you approached the site from the South with it being close to the entrance to the town although coming from the North you have to go straight through the town towards Hexham and the site is just a few hundred yards on the right.
Very friendly and helpful staff, assisted us in choosing a pitch and gave us a full rundown of the site. Unfortunately on a bit of a slope and had to pitch the caravan 180 degrees from site normal due to entrance door height.
Unfortunately picked a week with extremely wet and windy weather, so much so we couldn't open the roof vents.
Site and facilities were lovely and clean and the pitches good with not too far to get the water.
There was the usual nightly problem of midges so be prepared and take what you think will be necessary - repellant, sting and bite lotion etc.
Bellingham was a very small but nice town and had all the essentials, there is a good small but well stocked and interesting museum near the old railway station which itself had a retired although modern style railway carriage which served a lovely afternoon tea along with other items - well worth the visit and the afternoon teas have to be booked in advance as it was, when we went, well patronised.
The only problem with the town of Bellingham that if you wanted to go anywhere, apart from Kielder or Crag-side, it was an hours drive. We did have a little problem when we left of that the local authority had decided to close the two main roads into Bellingham from the South on the same day for road works which meant a very early get up and get off site as soon as so we could get past the roadworks before they started at 0800.
Notice of the roadworks had been posted on the site noticeboard by the site staff which was a good touch. As longstanding members of the C&CC I always try to purchase a site pennon to add to my collection but was informed that they had none available and were waiting for a new order to arrive but offered to post one to me when they came in which they did do so top marks for that.

Just back from a lovely stay at this CCC site.
Extremely clean and tidy site, bins emptied daily.
Immaculate toilet and shower block.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful.
They recommend the Riverdale Hall Hotel (10 minute walk away) for a meal and we were not disappointed. Dogs were allowed in the bar and we could choose the bar or restaurant menu. The food was excellent and we will be back!
Lots of interesting places to visit nearby and lots of information available on site.

Great location. Pristine facilities.
Easy walk into Bellingham and Hareshaw Linn.
20 min drive or decent cycle to Kielder.
Couldn’t ask for more.
NB bring green for your chemical toilet.

A great welcome at Reception to confirm our booking and to give advice on the local town (where to eat, where to park, etc).
Also, they have a leaflet for a walk around central Newcastle to see the best sites - we had a great afternoon there.
The campsite is sensitive to the dark skies in the area - so lighting is reduced across the area. Take a torch, and (so you don't spoil the night sky for other guests) avoid outside lights on your camper/caravan.
A good range of recycling bins easily accessible from the main camping field.
The wash block is by the reception - and has very good clean warm facilities. Good wifi too.
Nearby is the Kielder forest - which was OK - but find out about parking before you go - most of them are £5 if you go over the first hour, which seems excessive if you want to spend some time at a number of sites. Take lots of cash too, as the ticket machines we saw didn't have any other way of paying except by coins in the slots.
If you are going along Hadrians Wall, you can get a 1 day car-park ticket that will be usable across all sites.

Lovely site, very clean facilities with well maintained playground. While there we drove into Bellingham.
You could walk but was a bit far for a small child.
We completed the waterfalls walk in Bellingham and popped into the bakery in town.
There is also a Chinese takeaway in town.

Site is just off a busy main road, and the walk into the village was along this route.
Site was ok with pitches in sun and some shaded.
Facilities were clean and modern.
Pleasant and obliging staff as usual for these C&C club sites.
Limited food essentials available on site.

We found the toilets/ showers to be fairly clean. The soap dispensers 1 out of 3 worked.
The first pitch was full of metal tent pegs and old bottle tops therefore we asked to be moved. This was not a problem.

We have just spent another great week at this site. The staff were friendly and super helpful and they kept the toilet and shower block spotless. It is a small, level and peaceful site on the outskirts of the town.
There is an incredibly well-stocked shop in the reception with very reasonable prices. They can order bread and newspapers in for you. It also has plenty of information about the area and there are folders of cycling and walking routes which they are happy to print out for you. There is a drying room and a camper’s kitchen available if needed.
We cycled most days on nearby quiet roads, some of the roads are gated so they have hardly any traffic. Be warned, it is very hilly. We recommend the cycle route called the Salmon route, which is a circular c 20 miles from the site out to the village of Falstone near Kielder. Here there is a great tea room/ café in the old school.
The town is an easy 15 minute walk away, with a variety of shops like a Co-op, a bakery and a small hardware shop

A very well organised site with great facilities - we made occasional use of their refuge, Wansbeck House, as the kitchen had a microwave.
Other visitors seemed to be almost fully reliant on the kitchen, eating all their meals there! But it was warm and welcoming, so I don't blame them.
The site seemed full, we had a choice of three pitches on arrival, but we didn't feel hemmed in and had plenty of space in which to orient our tent as best for our needs.
Water, waste and recycling conveniently located.

This is a great campsite in a great location.
Great pub in the village for evening meal.
Good Co-op. Baker and butcher a bit disappointing.
Showers and toilets could do with an upgrade.
