Nothing much more to add, previous reviews have summed it up very well.

But I must emphasise how absolutely delightful the people who run the site are, absolutely nothing is to much trouble for them, and so helpful.

Thank you guys. 👍

 Quiet site with wonderful views.

Very friendly and accommodating wardens. Facilities are spotlessly clean.

Good pub next door which serves a decent pint and good food.

Some sloping pitches, motorhomers will require wedges but wardens offer to provide more if required.

Excellent location for touring / exploring Exmoor.

The newly totally refurbished ale house next door The Bittescombe Inn is the bonus.

This is a small adult only site with tourers, seasonals and semi permanent mobiles. Karen and Rob keep the whole site in an immaculate condition.

Their facilities exude cleanliness.

Great views looking north towards Dunkery.

This is the second site I have used recently who have installed the latest toilet waste disposal point. So much easier to use than some of the holes in the ground we have all seen.

Small dog walk adequate for the morning evening ablutions. 16 amp EHU

We will be back

Very friendly welcome. Helpful when I had a gas problem.

Some nice walking in the area, we walked around the lake.

The adjacent pub is exceptional. Lovely traditional pub with a nice fire. Beer and food excellent.

 This site was excellent.

The facilities were always clean.

The staff made you feel so welcome and helpful.

The location afforded superb views, especially at sunset across Exmoor.

It was good that we were able to stay for two extra nights.

We've already booked for next year

Friendly welcome on arrival from the wardens Rob and Kaz, who explained in detail the site and supplied local knowledge verbally and with a local magazine.

Directed to a large grass pitch, slightly sloping but this was not an issue, and given an electrical extension to use to hook up to (16amp rated). As we were the only tent users on this weekend we were able to pitch our tent to make the most of the fantastic views across Exmoor to Hadden Hill on the large grass area.

The site has very high standards and kept immaculate by all the staff. The toilets and showers, all free, are the best we have ever used in our travels and there was a continuous refreshing of hand soap and hand gel…. Nice touch.

Great wash up area …. Sink for short people (haha) and large drainers. Laundry area and microwave are available to use at an additional small fee.

Assistant warden (Nicky) is equally as friendly and helpful and nothing seems to be to much trouble.

Shame the pub was still being refurbished just outside the site and not opening until the end of May…. The site has a little shop for essentials and we made use of the local eggs at a fab price…. A

Ll in all this is a fantastic site and is top of our return list later in the year.

What a fabulous site, can’t believe we’ve not found it before!

Rob and Karen are brilliant hosts, very helpful and nothing too much trouble.

Facilities very clean and tidy. A great base for some lovely walks too.

We’ll definitely be back! Martin and Jan

Fantastic site very clean and tidy. It’s very quiet and there is a pub serving food at the bottom of the drive which is lovely.

Shop on site sells all the basics and staff are very helpful.

Not many shops nearby and quite remote,

Free wifi is excellent but we couldn’t get a tv working even with the dish we have due to a few trees

But would come back if in area

We have stayed at Exe Valley campsite before (excellent) but they were full and we fancied staying somewhere else nearer the lake.

This campsite is very quiet and our next door neighbours were friendly. The facilities were nice and kept clean and the dog walk area is small but very nice.

The pub at the end of the drive was very nice and they were very friendly too. The pitches weren’t overly generous especially considering Covid.

Downsides were -and I found it interesting reading other reviews- were the owners or at least the people looking after the site. One was ok but not overly friendly the other was quite odd in her approach, not friendly and I almost felt we shouldn’t be there, I felt she was watching me the whole time.

It seems this site is very much for the long term caravanners which - though lovely for them, it does change the dynamics of a campsite and I find this more and more these days as I guess it is good money for the owners.

You can walk to the lake from the site but you don’t seem to be able to avoid the road. However this was quiet and we had a lovely long 11 mile walk.

We won’t be returning as didn’t feel welcome sadly and it was expensive.
