Lot's of walking in the area. Very pretty area.

The location of this campsite is the best thing about it-the view of Curbar Edge is stunning and there is a lovely riverside walk accessible from the site. The site is a busy thoroughfare for walkers.
The facilities, which are described as basic, are poor and not particularly clean. We weren’t brave enough to attempt the shower although we didn’t have any 20p coins.
Not really sure how the owners can justify charging £25 per night.

Enjoyed the peace and quiet, weather not as nice as hoped. Views up Stanage Edge is beautiful on a clear day. A great place for walkers, local pub, Cafe, Co op shop etc not too far from site.
Dislikes: the toilet and shower block has only 2 toilets and 1 basic shower with just a wrap round curtain, the shower takes 20ps for about roughly 2 minutes
These do not get cleaned daily but there is a mop and bucket to mop up after use of the shower, a bin for all rubbish, a big sink for campers to wash their pots and pans in
There is no play park area for younger children

Stunning location on footpath and river, walking distance to village cafe/pub and set under the beautiful Curbar Edge surrounded by farm live stock.
Be prepared for ‘rustic’ shower/loo block, wear flip flops. Stash of 20p’s required (which I failed to see on listing) for the shower.
Take your own washing up kit!
Also, photos fail to reveal you’ll be in a field with some permanent residents in caravans/trailers.
Knock loudly on door on arrival to get the brief for stay.
I’d return for value for money / location but could do with a clean

Stunningly beautiful setting for camp site, quiet and peaceful.
However the showers are not cleaned regularly……often cleaned by campers prior to use……shower curtain filthy.
I used my own shower mats, and cleaned shower prior and after to use…. This is a challenge as shower itself works on a 2 minute shower for 20p …. So cleaning was done with a bottle of water from the nearby sink.
Difficult to clean waste water and toilet cassettes due to poor pressure in the tap. General waste disposal also poor.

Been staying at Stocking Farm for over 25 years, but this was our first time since the original owner passed on the business to her son and ?
I was told I had to pay by cash on arrival so ended up having to put cash in a plastic bag through their letter box as I didn’t see them for my whole stay. We were disappointed that the facilities are still very basic and not very well maintained (dirty toilets and mouldy showers). There are no recycling facilities and I ended up having to show other campers where the refuse disposal facilities and drinking water taps were as there is a distinct lack of basic signage. Someone had to show us how to switch on and use the electric hook up unit (it had either tripped or been switched off). The chemical toilet disposal facility is not clearly marked and consists of a very heavy metal ‘lid’ which is extremely difficult to lift in a safe manner and we suspected it does not comply with health and safety regulations!
The ground is very uneven and gets boggy near the river so levellers required if you are in a campervan or caravan.
Advantages of this site are that there are awesome views of Curbar and Stanage Edges, easily accessible on foot from the site, as well as some lovely walks along the river and through the gorgeous Peak District countryside to Hathersage, Grindleford, Eyam, Stoney Middleton. There is a cafe and 2 or 3 pubs within 5-20 minutes walk as well as a small local supermarket nearby on the main road.
Altogether a fantastic location but the site owners need to at least make an appearance and make themselves accessible if there are any queries or problems, in other words, provide a better service for the price they are charging, keep the facilities clean and erect some basic helpful signage for campers visiting for the first time.

Another superb stay at one of my favourite Campsites. Unusually, my first of the season here. I've generally got more than one visit in by now.
Great location and easy access with timeless views of Curbar and Froggatt Edges. Coupled with the nicest and most helpful owners.
Looking forward to my next visit.

£20 for a two-person tent and £23 for a three-person tent, so £43 for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) using only one pitch.
It is not cheap for a small campsite.

I liked the simplicity of the site.
It was peaceful, set in a lovely valley with level grass pitch and all the facilities I needed (may be a little old school for some. A night of storms an heavy rain didn’t cause the site to get swamped despite bein on the valley floor.
Site owners a little difficult to contact on arrival but pleasant an helpful when contacted.
Beautiful walking from the site, attractions, eating, drinking, coffee and shops nearby.

Small basic campsite with ehu. Showers and toilets were adequate but could do with a bit of an update. The owner tells you exactly where she wants you to pitch and park.
Three pubs in walking distance and a very well equipped Spar which as well as the normal stuff had some nice looking local meat and bakery goods.
Can recommend the food at both the Bridge Inn (just a few minutes walk) and the Derwentwater Arms (our favourite of the 3 - about 10 minute walk). The Eyre Arms was friendly but only does pizza in the week with their full menu on Friday-Monday.
There's a really nice walk from the site, along the river Derwent and up to the top of the ridge. Lots of other lovely walks (and pubs!) within a short car journey.

Great location for hiking/rambling.
A number of good food pubs and a cafe within walking distance.
Very very basic facilities. I expected better facilities for £20 per night but I do not often bother with campsites so perhaps I am expecting too much.

Location and views were great. Peaceful but close to amenities.
Good walks and bike rides from the site.
Owner met us on arrival. Provided tour of facilities and welcoming.

Excellent little camping site, very quite and tranquil. Close enough to Calver but still a bit of hidden gem.
Great starting point for many different routes, including the Derwent Valley Heritage Way which runs through the field. Spent 3 nights here, completed walks on edges and valleys and enjoyed every minute.
The site is very quite, highly recommended if you really want to enjoy the Peak District.
Shower was hot, after a day's hiking it was excellent (bring 20p coins, the machine only takes this amount but for 60 p it runs for quite a long time). There is a tap for drinking water.
I would like to come back another time.

Excellent little campsite,
Reasonably priced and very convenient for walking the Derwent Valley Heritage Way (the route literally goes through the campsite!).
There are three pubs just down the road.
The showers need 20p pieces however so bring a few.

The campsite was simple but everything worked.
It was in the middle of the village though the entrance was hidden, so turn next to Calver Mill.
Great walking area, good pub not far away.
