Just arrived back after a lovely weekend on this quiet site on the racecourse. Other than very clean toilets, there are no facilities, but the site warden is very laid back and allowed us to stay a couple of hours past 12 noon, the official debunk time.
Lovely views across the race course and surrounding country side. Some pitches are slopey and hook up is 10amp. Had a great time.

This site is located at the Bangor on Dee horse racing track.
Toilets and showers are clean and well kept and there is a small laundry area too.
There are many hardstanding pitches with panoramic views over the race track to the hills beyond.
We were camping and the ground was well drained with no puddles despite some very heavy rain showers. The only down side to this good drainage is the difficulty in getting pegs in the ground in some places.
If you have a dog you can walk it off lead on the race course (1.5 miles), and enjoy the walk yourself.
Local village a mile away has a couple of pubs with riverside views and a small local store.

This is a really unusual site. The site is the tarmac tote area and the grass area along the side of the finishing line. It is a lovely location, with lots of things to do (I would recommend a visit to Ruthin jail) and the village of Bangor-on-Dee has two pubs and a well stocked small village shop. Both pubs sell food. The only quibble with the site is that there is no shop on site for essentials and the toilets (which were clean and with free hot water) were small in number. Only one shower in the mens and two showers in the ladies.
On the positive side there is lots of grass for the kids to play on! This is a good base for a week-end.
