Run by a very grumpy pair of old folk, who were very rude and abrupt on arrival, site nice and level, close to Builth, and some lovely walking, but shower block not cleaned all weekend, (bank Holiday), had the same muck in the shower cubical all weekend!
Very basic site, no wifi, and a huge skip of rubbish on entry may have accounted for the amount of flies around the site.
Great location as we were there for the Eisteddfod! Location and site was fab! Don't dare arrive after tea time though, the owner (lady) who we spoke to was very rude as I rang to say that we wouldn't be arriving until 8pm!
Customer service improvement is highly required for the lady owner. She was shockingly rude over the phone when I rang to say we wouldn't get there until 8pm! Everyone else on site were lovely.
Pleasant little site. Very easy to find and access.
Good flat grass with pathway adjacent river bank and row of hard standings which was occupied by few seasonals. Very friendly. As stated owners are to be found in farm house. We arrived too early, don't think they like anyone before 2pm but they were lovely couple.
Short walk into town not many shops but plenty of pubs. My only downside was the toilet block could have done with a good power wash to get rid of the spiders etc. Very handy site for few nights but wouldn't want to take main holiday here. Not a lot to do without driving a distance.
We stayed Here again for 3 nights April, immaculate site, spotlessy clean, good clean bathrooms, free showers. 3 minute walk into town, locals nice, helpful and friendly. Beautiful river walks, cycle rides. Good salmon, trout and grayling river fishing. Two excellent butchers for meat for the barbie, proper old fashioned pubs at reasonable prices.
We stayed here for the last weekend of the school summer holidays.
The site is a single, generally level, field which runs alongside the river. There are a number of hardstandings, but we had a grass pitch in the far corner of the field, by the river. It was lovely, and very quiet.
I think we were the only family – two children aged 6 and 9. Nevertheless the children had great fun riding their bikes around the field, and there was plenty of room in the centre of the field for them to kick a ball around and play tennis.
The facilities are basic, toilet and shower block, and single washing up area, but they were very clean.
The site is less than 5 minutes walk from Builth Wells where there are a few shops, 2 small grocery shops, a bank with ATM, pubs and takeaways. Running alongside the river in the town, is a lovely park with a small playground for the kids, and a public swimming pool, which we used on the Sunday as it was less than 10 mins walk from the site. Being in a motorhome, the location of the site, and it’s close proximity to the town, suited us enormously.
The owner is very friendly but, on arrival, can be difficult to find, as there is no reception area. If there is no-one available to point you to your pitch, you’ll need to walk over to the large white house to fetch him. He gave us a choice of pitches, and advised us on the flattest option for parking up. Despite the appalling wet weather we’ve experienced lately, the field was not wet, and was relatively firm.
We will definitely be staying here again, as it was lovely and quiet and in a great location for access to the town.
Just returned from a one night stay at this beautiful site whilst attending an event at The Royal Welsh showground which is only a 2 minute drive away.
The owners are exceptionally friendly and helpful. As I have a caravan site myself I am very fussy. This is one of the most beautiful sites I have stayed at.
We were pitched overlooking the river which is fenced off but there is an access gate onto a lovely walk along the river. Excellent toilet and showers which were immaculate.
Ideally located within a 5 minute walk to the Town Centre where there are plenty of shops and take aways. As we were only staying staying one night we only had time to have a Indian meal which we enjoyed very much.
There are also Chip shops, chinese and pizza outlets. We will definitely return when the weather picks up hopefully because who would want to stay at the seaside after staying here.
Stayed 3 nights, rained every day, still had a great time due to the sites close proximity to town.
Owners had a warm welcome. Beautiful position right on the banks of the Wye. Shower/Toilet block excellent. Great for dog walking, west along the river is best.
Feeling peckish, don't forget Kebab 2000 (Lovely)- chippy not too bad. Curry house very nice but portions could be bigger. Don't forget a nosey at the 'Junk Church'.
All in all The White House Camp Site is a superb site in a beautiful spot and is ideal for exploring the town and surrounding area. A1
