We stayed here for two nights on our way further south. It is a very pleasant, peaceful site run by a friendly English couple who have lived in France for 13 years and run this site for 2½. Currently there are no other staff employed, but other family members help out at times if they are there. Although fairly basic, it represents excellent value for money. The site has two separate camping fields, one with little shade and we were left to choose our own pitch. There are separate loo and shower blocks a little distance apart, but not a problem. They are fairly small and I wondered how they would cope with numbers at busy times. No soap or loo roll is provided, which seemed a little mean and it was lucky that we had brought some of our own. There is a fridge and freezer in the shower block which are free for campers to use. There is no washing machine. Set in the valley floor, the site has pleasant views of the surrounding hills and there are plenty of walks to be had in the area. The owners were very helpful and suggested several walks which they had also marked on maps which they will lend to you. They will also give you advice on where to find restaurants nearby. Their own modest restaurant is open most days, depending on workload and it is best to check with them before assuming that you can eat on site. Currently, there is only a fixed ‘menu du jour’, but it is well-cooked and very tasty. Breakfasts are also available when they are not too busy. A new restaurant is expected to be in full swing for the 2017 season.
Arrived here to a welcome smile. The views are stunning, the site has a relaxed way and bread could be ordered from the owners each morning. There is a comprehensive walking pack available on site. Lots of local shops with interesting produce-we rarely use supermarkets. There are no 'entertainments' as such but with such a fine location, entertainment was looking around at the views or taking in the peace and quiet. The toilet block and shower block we 50yds apart but that did not cause a problem. Definitely go back again
We spent six nights at La Source whilst touring Provence by tandem. This is a lovely site with good views of surrounding mountains. Ground is good for pitching tent - grassy rather than stones like others visited on our tour. Camping area is by the edge of a field, with mature trees acting as a dividing line. No individual plots, you just take your pick. Toilet block, showers, washing up area were always clean with plenty of hot water. Nearest small supermarket was 5k away, although site owners did offer to collect bread, milk etc. For us when they went shopping. Local auberge was unfortunately closed for the season, but we managed to have excellent evening meals (vegetarian) at Aspremont (Restaurant O'Becassier) and Aspres-sur-Buech (Hotel du Parc). Owners were very welcoming and provided useful information on local walks etc. Would definitely camp here again.
