What can I say about this fabulous campsite!
We’re big fans of the Island and have been coming to the campsite for many years.
It has a fantastic location right next to SAYE beaches and Arch bay and it’s a short bike ride (or 10 minute bus ride) to the town or 2 minutes to Corbletts beach in the next bay. We use bikes while we’re there and can easily cycle round the island in a day.
The site has a small shop, wet room for games etc, a laundry, 2 big toilet/shower blocks, a small play area and fridge/freezer room. The warden/owner and staff are fantastic and cannot be been more helpful.
It is quite exposed being an island location so gets pretty windy at times but nothing too bad as long at you have a good strong tent well positioned and guyed out.
Can’t recommend this site enough - we love it.

This is the only campsite on Alderney and it was our first visit to the island.
It is in a lovely location, right behind the dunes of Saye beach which is beautiful and safe for swimming.
The site is one large L shaped field with no marked pitches, so just pitch where you like. When we arrived the site was very quiet, a nice surprise given it was mid July!
If you bring your own tent, the price is only £5. 00 per person per night and £2. 50 for under 15 yrs. There are free hot showers (push button) toilets/washroom in a new (last year I think) wooden block.
In another block there is a laundry room, washing up sinks, and a lovely communal area with chairs/sofas games etc. This had a lovely feel and would be great for those bad weather days, especially out of season if you're in a small backpacking tent!
Next door to this, is a small shop and a campers kitchen with a fridge/freezer and full size gas cooker. There are two stove top kettles, pots, pans, plates, cups, cutlery and again, at quiet times you'd have full use of this yourself, great in bad weather. We were offered free use of a solid coolbox and ice packs, again, no charge to freeze these.
Nice little touches, like marker pen left by fridge to name your items, honesty system/box for buying things if staff not there, all very relaxed.
Small play area, swings/climbing frame.
Free wifi as well, and a place in kitchen to charge items, although I would guess these sockets get busy when the site is full.
Must mention the blonde hedgehogs that visit at night! We had one visit most nights in the early hours. Pack food away securely!
We flew to Alderney via Guernsey and the small plane for the short last hop was an experience! We had a luggage allowance of 20 kilos each with Aurigny and we did manage to bring a lightweight canvas tent and all our gear within this limit. It was easy to get a taxi (red) from the airport (£7) although once there a car is not needed. Bikes (electric as well) can be hired in the town, which is a good half hour walk from the site.
The site's own pre erected tents were popular, and these were family sized tunnel tents and a few bell tents with wood burning stoves (not needed while we were there, it was hot!).
Won't go into detail about Alderney itself, as you can read up on that, safe to say we loved it. A quiet feel compared to the other channel islands and it does not get the hoards of daytrippers that Herm does, due to the distance from Guernsey. Lovely small town, plenty of places to eat/pubs, shops etc.
I think this site is relatively quiet most of the year, probably due to the effort required to get here. The site will be completely full though, during 'Alderney Week', which is around the first week in August each year.
All in all a lovely site in a perfect location, very reasonably priced and a friendly helpful lady owner.

As of 2012, visitors to Alderney will be allowed to bring camper vans and caravans to the island for the first time.
Visitors wishing to bring a Campervan, Caravan or any mobile home with them to the Island to be used for overnight accommodation can do so provided:
• shipping length of any caravan, trailer, motorhome or campervan
Should be no more that 6. 9 metres;
• the vehicle is booked onto the camp site;
• a permit has been obtained from the States of Alderney.
The freight operator will not allow such vehicles on their vessel in the absence of a valid permit.
While on the Island Campervans, Caravans or mobile homes can be driven on the roads to and from the campsite once only by the shortest route: they must not be driven on the roads at any other time. Parking on site will be limited to designated areas.
Before travelling to Alderney
The process for arranging a trip to Alderney will normally involve:
the visitor contacts the campsite to check availability
if there is availability on site, a provisional booking is agreed
the visitor completes the booking process with the freight company
the visitor confirms the booking with the campsite operator
the visitor obtains a permit from the States of Alderney General Office
The permit must be available for inspection at both the check-in point and by the Guernsey Border Agency on arrival on the Island.
