Four work colleagues camping!!! Only me that had been camping before. What a weekend it was going to be. Had a great time though. Campsite was excellent. It was just a beer garden to a lovely little pub. Just what we wanted. Site is secluded and toilets and washing facilities (no showers) were immaculate. Food served in pub was wonderful. Would definitley return with family. Thanks to Sue for making us very welcome.

April 2005 Tucked away behind The George Public House in Alstonefield is a small camping field surrounded by a tall stone wall. Space for probably around 12 units, the site is level and secluded. The toilet facilities are basic, being shared with the pub and there is no shower. The George itself is a traditional Peak District Village Inn, serving a range of beers including Burtonwood Cask Conditioned (real) Ale. A range of good quality home made food is also available at reasonable prices. The village is very picturesque, the pub opening out onto the village green and lots of stone cottages. There is no shop in the village but it is an ideal base for exploring this area of the Peak District, with Dove Dale, Mill Dale and the Manifold Valley only a short stroll away.
