We loved the friendly welcoming people in the office who appear to be Comfortable and dedicated to their roles; wide open spaces,
Lovely views, nearby farm shop,
Toilet arrangements are perfect simple, clean spacious and well arranged.
Thorney Lakes is unpretentious but seems to be a plače that the owners genuinely love.
The nearby town of Lanport is welsoming to visitors and has an excellent artisan. / fela-market, bakery, cafe, and health-food shop.

I wanted to stay near Muchelney to visit the abbey. This site was perfect, with a lovely walk to the Abbey on the River Parrett trail, almost from the gate of the campsite.
This is a lovely site in an apple orchard, mostly level, with EHU, 2 shower blocks, 1 with family sized shower rooms, washing up and laundry areas and very friendly and pleasant owners that let you pitch where you want to.
Part of the site incorporates 2 fishing lakes which as campers you are allowed to walk around, so lovely and peaceful, with plenty of seats to just sit and enjoy.
The site is good for both walking and cycling, there is a lovely pottery and gallery almost next door, Kingsbury Episcopi just down the road has a lovely community shop selling local produce,
There is also Burrow Hill Cider Farm & Distillery and a Smokery within a short drive / cycle ride. In addition, many of the local houses sell jams, pickles, eggs and plants from their gateways.
So a lovely campsite and some yummy food and drink nearby.

My 3rd visit to Thorney Lakes and it just gets better and better !
I had a great time fishing in the lake and exploring the nearby river, a good selection of bait was available at reception.
Finding a suitable pitch was a breeze as the whole site is flat and level.
The management were very helpful in accomodating our party.

Excellent site. Lovely spot, very well cared for site, no pitches as such so a sense of tranquillity and (when we were there anyway) plenty of lovely grassy spots to choose from, in amongst rows of apple trees.
Also the best wifi we’ve had in any campsite! And a very friendly family welcome from the owners.
Tiny bit of road noise (we chose a spot near the hedge not thinking about the road on the other side) but if you don’t like the background noise of agricultural machinery going past don’t camp in a field in the middle of Somerset ;-)
Two minutes walk from Muchelney Pottery which is a very special place for anyone who loves great craftsmanship.

This is a lovely site for tents. The fields are clean, flat and level, with very few stones to bend your pegs. The grass was short and lush when I stayed. Hedges can provide shelter from the wind.
The toilets, showers and wash-up area are modern and kept very clean (with CoViD secure measures).
As well as the campsite, the property covers a large area of natural woodland with ponds and a couple of lakes where a fishing day ticket can be bought.
There are no specific facilities for children, and due to the quiet nature of the site and area I think its more suited to older adults.
The management were helpful and friendly. I definitely want to stay at the site again.

Just come back from a 4 night stay on this lovely site. This site majors on peace and quiet as has already been mentioned. It is all very easy going - you can go where you please, and the site has top notch super-clean facilities -
It is clear that the owners (Sally and co) really care and that is not always as universal as you would hope for in campsites in our experience.
Site is a good base to explore the surrounding countryside, we'll definitely be returning again. Just down the road in Kingsbury Episcopi is the community shop which has all your essentials and more besides, also not far away are several locations brewing and selling their own cider and other local produce (hic !) and offering free tastings.
We visited one at Bere near Aller (just outside Langport) which we would recommend highly.

Camped for 6 nights. This site is so quiet and relaxing. Facilities are great. 2 big fields to choose to pitch with no rules as such just your common sense, electric hook ups available on both. Big shower/toilet rooms with plenty of hot water whatever time of day you use them nearest to farmhouse, smaller block on 2nd field.
Washing up area with washing machine, electric sockets for hairdryers/phones etc. No charge for these but a possible donation instead. No play area but plenty of room to play outside. A lovely walk to 2 lakes where you can sit or fish or just enjoy a stroll. Lovely wildlife.
Lots of lanes to travel to nearest villages or towns but all very picturesque. Sally the owner is lovely and was very helpful in our hour of need lending us tools when our car broke down and we met very friendly people on site who also helped us. Would most definitely return. Dog friendly too.
