 Just a one night stop over between work appointments but very pleasant indeed. We got one of the very few pitches with a view of the loch, albeit through the security fence !
Very helpful site team, especially when I was being a bit thick about the EHU pillar.
Facilities block very good indeed - you need a keycode. I had a lovely walk around the loch, which has great views.
There’s also a good kids play area and outdoor gym in the country park that surrounds it.
It’s very popular, and dog walkers do pass by morning and night which is something to think about if you have a reactive dog, otherwise a quiet location.
We cooked our own food, but from a drive through the town there are several pubs, eateries and takeaways to choose from, plenty of menus to peruse in the info room.
There’s also lovely countryside just minutes away.

Good pitches, facilities are clean and tidy but not central.
Key code access to local park where you can walk round the loch in about an hour.
Large Tesco and Asda plus loads of shops in town.
A good overnight stop if in a motorhome, good for touring if you have a caravan and can get round by car.

Works well as a stop-over. Impressed, as before, by the amount that the managers do for their community and the environment.
I appreciate that many people use their own on-board facilities, but the information area in the toilet block is possibly the best on any CAMC site - especially useful if you plan to take your MH into Dundee, Kirriemuir, Montrose or Arbroath, because the information about parking is handy, as well as suggestions about what to do.
Knocked off one point because I do think CAMC pitch fees (£38pn) are expensive even as members, compared to equally good independent sites. Extra £10 for non-members.
Finally, we enjoy a good Forfar Bridie (at least 3 shops sell them, all subtly different) and our local Aldi now stocks them.

A typical CAMC site, well kept, good sized pitches all with electric and some serviced with water and grey waste.
Facilities block immaculate with good showers that were piping hot - no push buttons.
Wifi was either payable or you could use the 1 hour free CAMC wifi - worked fine just need to re-login every hour.
The walk around the Loch is 2 and 1/2 miles, easy going for all abilities.
The lochside park was noisy late into the evening.
ALDI is less than 5 minutes walk for any shopping needs but the town itself also has various shops and supermarkets.
A good site we would use again but not much to hold us in the area.
Whilst the site is next to the Loch there really aren't any decent views from pitches

Wise to prepare by looking at the site map online: the site is surrounded by trees, and you need to know which pitches get the sun or shade at the time of day you prefer (if they're available - arrive early afternoon).
The trees limit views of the loch & screen most pitches from the people beyond the security fence.
Clean facilities, good showers, the alternative toilet was closed due to a plumbing problem over our stay, so there was no toilet available during cleaning (10:30 - 12:00).
No Wi-Fi.
Excellent site for dog walks, with keypad gate access into the park & path round the loch. Close to town, plenty of supermarkets nearby.
The managers do more here than at any other CAMC site we've been on: there's a help-yourself herb garden; a useful information area in the facilities block (a map of bus stops would have been handy); a book swap & they raise funds for charity by taking the interesting shaped bottles out of recycling and putting lights into them.
And there's a delightful unit with dog-related goodies: treats to eat, borrow a tennis ball & launcher, poo bags, a bowl of water - all very kind & thoughtful.
We liked Forfar, and not just for the variety of delicious Bridies - the Meffan is worth visiting (gallery & fascinating museum); climb up castle Hill for the views - get the gate key from the nearby newsagent; spend 30 mins in the best ironmonger we know (David Irons & Sons), with an awesome range of goods; we also enjoyed the wee garden dedicated to Five Forfar Botanists.
Glamis castle nearby is worth a day trip - dogs are allowed in the extensive gardens & grounds on a lead, the guided tour of the castle is interesting even if you have no interest in the Queen Mother.
The Caledonian Railway at the small City of Brechin runs steam trains to Bridge of Dun near Montrose.

Chose here for our free night voucher.
First trip of the year and just wanted to make sure everything was working for all our trips this year plus the bonus of visiting family.
Lovely clean site and facilities. Wardens lovely and friendly.
Ideal for just walking in to town. Lovely walk around the loch.
Plenty places to visit out and about not far from site.
Nice big pitches.

The site is well situated, handy for different types of food venues and accessible for larger caravans and motor homes.
The site is well maintained and very usefully located near to the A90 if you plan on going up country to Aberdeen and beyond.
Also handy for trips into Dundee which is 15 to 20 minutes away.

The site wardens were very pleasant and checked us in quickly and offered us a couple of pitches.
The tent area was nice and level and we had a pitch close to the toilet block.
The site in general was spotless and well kept, the wardens out weeding and grass cutting when not receiving guests or cleaning.
The facilities were as expected spotless and we were impressed that the local information was at the facilities block meaning it was available 24/7.
Our stay was very enjoyable and we would highly recommend this site and the surrounding area.

An excellent site up to the usual caravn club standards. Most of the site was well thought out with a feeling of space between units, something that is less obvious these days at caravan club sites.
Having said that there was the odd pitch that was ridiculously placed and should not have been there (on this occasion though they were all vacant throughout our stay). In my experience most wardens would agree with this but are not able to say.
The only thing that struck me though was the quietness of the site in early August. Many vacant pitches throughout our stay. I suspect that the caravan club is continuing to price themselves out of the market in current times.

It is very well laid out and in a good location.
The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.
