The site was easy to find with Sat Nav but was not very well sign posted. Reception area is not very appealing on approach as you are faced with two closed wooden doors, and as we had arrived half an hour early we were made to wait to collect our keys. We waited in the bar area which seems rather small for the size of the site but it looked well laid out - we noticed the chairs and carets were stained.
Our caravan was at the head of a small car park, with cars a metre from our lounge window and a metre from our entry door. We had to park on the road outside. There was a lot of movement of these cars and we were disturbed by engine sounds and slamming doors from 3. 30 in the morning. We reported this to reception who will hopefully investigate. It does look like its not all holiday makers on site but also workers - a DPD van was parked close by overnight.
Walking around the site it was clear that we'd been unlucky with our accommodation as other areas of the park were very pleasant with trees, shrubs and open grass. The reception was housed in a large house which perhaps was the original hall and there was another interesting building which looked derelict. We found parts of original walls and steps. The lake was scenic and well used until our last day when it was cordoned off due to blue green algae. Parts of the site were really peaceful, with only birdsong to disturb the peace.
It was easy to get down to the seafront and entertainment and easy to find parking. The disabled parking was mostly free as long as you were in a designated bay and also free on the road. We got a map of museums etc from the Fishermans Museum.
We didn't sample the site evening entertainment, mainly because we were too tired after the early morning disturbances. For food we preferred to sample local takeaways.
We enjoyed Hastings but would not return to Coghurst Hall.
