Super friendly wardens at a wonderful site.
Perfect stay to be able to participate in the Exmoor swim in the lake.
Facilities good - particularly liked the recycling tubs in each pitch to encourage recycling into their big bins.

Fantastic location. Lots to do close by.
No internet or phone signal which was very liberating especially for my two teenagers 😂.
The only improvement would be more toilets.

We liked the campsite, it had toilets and showers, although they could be cleaned a bit more frequently.
The water sports are very expensive though and so Is the cafe which is a shame had they been cheaper we would have done an activity. The high ropes were £40! The play park was sweet

We have just returned from 2 nights camping in the overflow fields at Wimbleball and LOVED it. We camp regularly, and this has, by far, been the most relaxing and friendly stay we have had in a long time. From the welcome at reception to our fellow campers; like-minded, happy, polite people.
The site is smaller than we’re used to, but that made it much nicer. We usually use electric hook-up but managed perfectly well without…no tech for the kids (9 & 12), which meant they actually enjoyed more of the great outdoors! The overflow field actually had more space so they could easily kick a ball about.
Not far to walk to the lake so we managed to walk our kit down easily.
Great weekend. Will definitely book again (& probably choose the non-electric, overflow field). Thank you Dave & team 😃

Lovely location with pitches very close to the lake (no lake view but that wasn’t a problem for us). The site is tidy with friendly, helpful staff.
We hired a fire pit for a couple of nights which was a nice addition for when the temperature cooled in the evening.
The only negative was that the toilets often ran out of soap and with only a few toilets there was sometimes a short wait. Not a dealbreaker though. Showers were good and hot.
We had a great time here. The location, with its proximity to the lake, is fantastic.

Very welcoming friendly staff, lovely clean site, we will definitely stay again.
Very impressed with husbands reversing along the narrow roads.
Site facilities I gave a 10 but we didn’t use them due to COVID. Preferred to give a 10 than a 0.
Site location was lovely for the lake & walks, the narrow roads that your sat nav takes you can be worrying.

We have stayed here a couple of times and noticed how it has become much more popular with groups and families which has resulted in some pitches being a bit too close together. There are more facilities now with an additional temporary type shower block in the centre of the field but still not enough for the amount of campers. There are also new bell tents which unfortunately obscure the view of the lake for most of the campsite! Great walks, a cafe and watersports available on site. Not a great road to the lake itself, single track with passing places. Superb location away from it all.

We stayed here weekend of 31 March through to 2 April. Glad it was only 2 nights. Facilities basic and other park users use them. The toilet/showers are out of camp site, across the main entrance to the Park car park and at the back of the cafe/shop. The toilet especially could have been cleaned more during the day taking into account they were for campsite use only and I saw many other people using them. We were only campers for the majority of stay but had a great time. Even though temperatures plummeted to minus 2 at night. Trees do hide view to lake - you can just about see some of the lake through the trees and is only a short walk away. Great playground for the kids. The walk around the lake took us 3 hours with two young children but well worth it. Hired a canadian canoe for an hour and again the kids loved it. Was surprised that not many people were here considering it was first weekend of Easter break but cold weather probably put them off. First day found large pile of dog pooh on campsite, within 5 minutes of reporting it, the warden came and cleaned it up. Staff on site were very friendly and very helpful. Great place to relax for a couple of days so only took enough food so we didn't have to go off site. Shame the new high climbing facility was not in use. Website did say all activities were running from 31 March so a great shame children did not have the use of this. Looked like it would have been a lot of fun but told staff still being trained (and this was Easter holidays, would have thought it would have been up and running). Better luck next time. Site excellent for star gazing. No low light, street lights. Exmoor is a dark sky reserve and we had 2 clear nights to do star gazing. Absolutely amazing. We would stay here again but only for 2 nights max. I think toilet/shower block needs to be upgraded. Shame it is not located within campsite.

Wimbleball is reached through a windy lane. The staff are very helpful and you need to check in at the tea shop. The sandwiches in the tea shop are overpriced ie. ham sandwich with plain white bread nearly a fiver. The shop does have some pasties drinks and a little cafe etc but closes in the evening. The nearest pub is a considerable walk and probably best driven to unless you can navigate through the fields
The site is on a field above the lake with a short walk 100 yards to the lake shore. There are some electric hook ups at the top of the field and the pitches were reasonably level. The campers are on the same field and there was a good family friendly atmosphere.
The facilities are pretty basic with two male showers and a wash basin two showers and 2 wash basins for women. The general loos male and female again have a few cubicles and are available to all who use the lake facilities. You have to walk a few yards out of the camping field to use them. If there was more future investment in the facilities I am sure more people would use the site as it had a calm friendly feel but the facilities were not great with a busy site.
The walk around the lake is 9 miles long so be prepared. The facilities on the lake are great i. E. Fly fishing, sailing lessons etc and both children and adults seemed to be enjoying it. There was lots of space and open areas.
Overall very enjoyable stay but could do with the facilities being improved and ideally being in the camping field. Good mixture of people family friendly and good location
