Could be a wonderful site but unfortunately when we stayed certain aspects of it weren't.
Good points are the location and the views looking over to Skye and adjacent to the Fort William railway (steam trains). Also, plenty of electric hook ups.
Bad points are large holes in the ground, washing up area choked in weeds and grass, toilets and showers hadn't been cleaned properly since the year dot, rubbish and old household appliances laying around in the long grass, signage for water non existent (hot water tap on the outside of the house), no chemical emptying point and the £32 a night asked for a caravan pitch and electric hook up for 2 people!
Come on owners, this could be a fantastic campsite but you have to put some thought and work into it.
Site location and situation is great. Super views from the site. Right next to the Fort William to Mallaig railway steam trains every day.
Facilities were looking a bit tired. We didn't try the showers and I couldn't get hot water from the hot tap. We only stopped for a one night stop over waiting for the ferry to Skye.
£14 for two adults for one night seemed a bit steep compared to what we got for similar cost on Skye.
Also we were asked not to fill our water tank, which we've never had a problem with before.
My daughter and I visited this campsite for the second time in three years, and once again found it perfectly charming, and more than adequate for our needs. Value for money is guaranteed, as is availability- when all other campsites are choking, this is usually serene and has an air of peace and tranquillity. Views are fabulous, and access is probably what you'd expect for a campsite in rural Scotland. Facilities were clean and more than adequate- plenty of hot water, and I never had to queue for anything. My daughter found plenty to do, very child-friendly, and the dog was welcomed also. Choices of accommodation from statics, tourers, mobile homes and tents, all with plenty of electric hook-ups. Owners were more than helpful, re-freezing my ice blocks for no charge every morning. Other than that I had little to do with them aside from the welcome and goodbye, which is how you want a campsite to be. This place is the only one on my list for the next time we visit.
Disappointing, very untidy premises, mop and bucket left lying at door of toilet /shower block. Laundry room with coin operated machines but no charges displayed. Gas cylinders strewn around toilet block and empty large plastic bags (builders sand bags) just abandoned. Grass growing out of the rones therefore not able to cope with rainfall, long grass around door to toilets, lawn mower left outside had a deep layer of moss growing on grass box. On enquiry price given was £8 per person no addition charge given for electric hook up however on arrival a £3 charge made for this. Difficult entrance for caravans over cattle grid road badly needs to be levelled out. Evidenced motor home and a caravan having great difficulty leaving lower field. For the same cost we stayed at resipole which is well run and facilities were superb.
Come on owners of Kinloid time to tidy up all the rubbish lying around and clean up your toilet / shower facilities, there is a demand for camping facilities in your area, don't let your community down with less than adequate facilities.

We came here despite there being no previous reviews for this campsite. It is one of the few not situated near the beach but instead is about 50 metres above sea level and has an impressive view down towards the sea (about 1km away).
Mr and Mrs Gilles that run the site were absolutely lovely and very happy. The site is two fields next to 2-3 fixed fixed caravans, with a upper and lower field. Power supplies and fresh water taps are nearby. Despite heavy rain and wind we had an excellent 2 days.
The showers and toilets are cleaned daily and although not like a luxury hotel were perfectly fine for camping. Hot running water for showers and basins. Outside is a outside sink with hot/cold water too under a wooden roof.
We paid £6 per person per night, which is excellent value and much cheaper than some of the others in the area. The lack of interest in this site means that when others are busy this one is quiet. Would definitely go back! Thanks a lot.
