Very pretty and well laid out grassy site with hardstanding, ponds and views of lovely hillsides and woods.

Amazing rookery in nearest ridge of trees, and get a rook "murmuration" in evening.

Town pretty good, with small general stores supplying everything!

Plus 2 hotel/pubs for evening meals, lovely river walks and moorland walks to dramatic Blackburn Falls.

The drive down Liddesdale to here is superb too.

The campsite sits right in the village, a couple of minutes walk to a large Spar, 2 pubs and 3 cafes. From the site good walks along the old railway line or down to the loch over and onto the 7Stanes cycle and walkways. There are 4 walkways and 2 cycle paths listed from the village which lead into other routes.

Campsite facilities are very clean and well kept. Ladies have 4 x combined shower/ toilet cubicles and one single toilet. Showers are excellent with good pressure, hot water and no dreaded push buttons.

Site is beautifully manicured, almost park like, we were told on a couple of occasions not to drive, put awnings or the legs of our canopy or possessions on the grass. It was wet so guess it's to keep it in pristine condition.

Internet was nearly non existent, we purchased access to site WiFi. It cost £5 for 48 hours and was excellent signal.

Pitches are a good size on gravel all with ehu. It's a very peaceful site, plenty to see and do in the area - we loved Hermitage castle and Langholm. The drive over the Langholm Moors is absolutely spectacular.

What a beautiful, beautiful site. Got to be up there with one if our most favourite sites we have ever stayed at. Grounds totally immaculate, a credit to the team!

Toilets and showers amazing, huge cubicles with a shower (not push button, YAY!), toilet and sink all in the one cubicle.

Pitches are completely glorious! Spacious, extremely well serviced and well drained.

Friendly and helpful site owners and staff, nothing too much bother for them.

Newcastleton is small (and remote, so come prepared) but there is a well stocked Spar, Costcutters, butchers, ironmongers, a couple of cafes and 2 hotels and a pub.

Fantastic safe, off lead dog walks direct from the site, and a gentle 5 min stroll further down the village.

Just THE most perfect location for a relaxing week. We have loved it and hope to return.

Phone signal can be weak depending on your network, but WiFi available for a very reasonable charge (we paid £10 for 7 nights, as many devices as you wanted).

10/10 For everything - some sites need to take a look at this one to see how it should be done. Thank you Lidalia, you should be so proud of your site, its beautiful 😍

We even enjoyed daily visits from the very friendly resident puss 🐱

Lovely little site. Shona and Gillian are two of the nicest people you could meet and are so friendly and helpful and can't do enough for you. The same can also be said about their assistants Don and Tracey who always have time for a chat and can give hints and tips of places to visit and amazing walks in the local area.

All the pitches are a good size, with perfect straight edges, and the grass is kept immaculately tidy. You can tell the owners have great pride in their site, and rightly so.

There are so many walks directly from the site itself so you don't always have to rely on your car for a day out. There is a small information room on site with leaflets and books to borrow.

The four individual cubicles in the ladies which each have a toilet, hand basin and large shower behind a curtain are great with a plentiful supply of hot water. These are kept spotless, and the security code needed to use them gives an added feeling of security.

A great site and although the phone signal is virtually non existent WiFi is provided for a small charge. And anyhow you don't have to walk far into the village to pick up a weak but quite usable signal.

Just a lovely little site run by lovely people.

This was our first stay at this lovely well kept site. On arrival the staff were very friendly and informative. We had a choice of pitches, which were all large hardstanding.

The site has 2 small duck ponds with ducks therein. The site is in the location of a disused railway yard and part of the platform is still there.

The toilet block is small but very well appointed with large self contained, shower, toilet, sink. There was no phone signal or 4g on the site, wifi is available to buy.

The village has a couple of hotels with bar and restaurant food which we didn't use. Also a well stocked Spar and Costcutter a lovely butcher and a couple of nice busy cafes.

For walking or Dog walks, plenty of choice. A gate from the site leads directly onto the former railway line. A booklet can be purchased at reception for a good value £2 showing all the walks in the area.

I can recommend the cross border walk taking you into Cumbria and through forests.

We will be back.

What a smashing site! One of the best we’ve stayed at and we’ve stayed at a lot. Wardens were lovely, good sized hard standing and the site is set out well. Digital tv aerial connection.

Showers and toilets are superb with good hot showers and lots of room with toilet and washbasin in shower room. Short walk into village with 2 mini supermarkets, butchers, a couple of cafes and 3 pubs.

Unfortunately didn’t stay long enough to try them out but will be back.

We were there for cycling (road) and there are many cycling opportunities both on and off-road, didn’t get a chance to walk but understand there were walks from the village.

£23.35 pn inc. EHU.

Just home from a 10 night stay at this lovely site.

Situated in a quiet village with plenty of amenities. Three pubs, two small supermarkets, a butchers and two cafes. You can now get fuel in the village as they have installed a Community Pump. A bit dearer than normal but 1p per litre goes towards the village.

There are lovely walks from the site and access to cycling trails and a Golf Course. The facilities are well presented and kept beautifully clean.

The owners, Shona and Gillian, with Dad Eddie, could not do enough for you. I have never met such a helpful set of site owners. Some pitches are bigger than others and quite a few have seasonal residents - all of those we spoke to were again some of the friendliest people we have met.

The site is well placed for touring the Borders and Dumfries and Galloway by car although if there is a drawback to the site its that you have to travel 11 miles in any direction before you pass another village or town.

There is a bus service but it takes a while to get anywhere. The B road for towing was good, if a little twisty with a few potholes. It was being repaired in places whilst we were there.

The site is not adult only but there is very little to do for children on the site and those that were there were mainly attempting the cycle trails with their parents.

Finally, whilst the site was very quiet with no road noise, there is a Rookery in the trees that border the site and the birds were quite noisy at times - and a good aim with their droppings!

However I would not hesitate to return - we would make this a regular haunt if it was a bit closer to home.

All the other reviews say it all, really, but I, too, cannot rate this campsite highly enough. Situated in the town, it is only a little stroll to shops and pubs as stated elsewhere.

The washroom facilities are out of this world, each having about four private ‘rooms’ with loo, sink and shower, and absolutely spotless.

The ladies has a notice saying you can borrow a hairdryer from reception. The pitches are good and level, with tv point. The site has the usual waste disposal facilities and also has a bike wash, which I have never seen before.

The wardens couldn’t be more friendly and helpful and we would recommend this site very highly.

Hello, almost afraid to report on this site, it's one of the very few that you feel like keeping to your self.

The site is situated in the centre of à small village, but which contains a very good family butcher two small grocery stores, post office, and a few eating places one of which delivers carry out at no extra cost now to the site which is kept Very clean and tidy

Adequate pitches

Spotless toilets and showers and very friendly and helpful wardens,

As I said I was being a little selfish not wanting to leave a review because we want to return, and not find Site Full signs up,

One of the best in Scotland. Arthur.
