My wife and I visited Diggerland's campsite with our daughter. We absolutely loved the experience as an outdoors type of family, this was right up our street!
When we arrived we felt at ease and welcomed straight away by the lovely staff members.
The scenery was fantastic too, the grass was level and flat which was good seeing as we were staying in a family sized tent!
In the morning we went on walks to endure the views of Devon's countryside before we spent some time at the fishing lakes. It is a very family orientated place so my daughter made friends with other children in the field (which by the way is enclosed so is very safe).
We stopped at a nearby restaurant in the evening which was really good quality food with a nice atmosphere.
What a great attraction for the family! I visited this campsite with my husband and two children and can definitely say that we will be returning. There was plenty to keep us entertained. We spent hours down at the fishing lakes and taking long lovely walks looking at Devon's countryside (which was great for our dog). There was various restaurants to choose from and the food quality was fantastic, especially for picky children! Look forward to coming here next year.

Choose between the scenic Daffodil Field with moorland views or the sheltered old walled garden. For those preferring a bit more comfort, the park provides camping pods and mega pods.

First the entrance was a little tricky as there are 2 entrances right next to each other one for Diggerland and one for a private property so easy to get confused.
The site is accessed via a very rough dirt track and considering all the diggers they have about you would think it wouldn't be to hard to smooth it out a bit.
The site itself is grass (which looked well kept) and nice and flat, with electric hook ups down one side (the one next to mine the casing was broken)
Toilets and showers where an uneven portacabin and while it all worked one of the showers had, had to have holes drilled in floor to drain away as the water went everywhere even out the door and there was no curtain. I don't mind basic facilities but not when they cost £16 a night.
The site is also pitch black at night as there is no lighting at all. Come on solar lights cost nothing to run.
One good thing I had 2 dogs and there was plent of space to run them about
I'm not really one to go camping. However whilst passing through, we thought we would stop off for a camping trip to Diggerland Devon and stay in their camp site.
I'm really glad we did! The staff were lovely, the field was clean and tidy and the grass was cut.
The showers and toilets could do with updating.
There were a few other families staying and our children played in the field safely enclosed.
We went to the local shop to buy food etc and drove about 1/2 mile to a restaurant down the road. There isn't much else around shopping -wise.
We went to the local fishing lakes, about a 5 minute walk from the camp site.
Diggerland was the highlight of our stay, our kids were able to ride and drive real JCB's and they had great fun.
I would recommend this place because it's nice quiet and secluded.
The family and I wanted to visit Devon campsite but as we are from Kent, needed a place to stay. I called Diggerland and asked whether there was anywhere near by. They told me about the campsite at Verbeer Manor (2 minute walk from Diggerland).
Really enjoyed the stay, beautiful lakes and scenery to walk through. The kids loved it!
The campsite is on green flat ground and is clean. The toilets need a bit of work though as there are only 2 toilets, I agree there needs to be more toilets. The toilets are also quite open and I didn't feel comfortable when showering as anyone could walk in. But with all the family together and not many people camping at the time this was ok and we got to know everyone staying there which was nice.
Overall though we had a brilliant time and Diggerland Devon was brilliant!
As a late arrival and prepaid, we had no problems pitching up, infact we did not see anyone all the weekend. The approach to the site is up a dirt track full of pot holes and large bricks, not good for your caravan.
The site is very level and green, overlooking lakes and countryside which is very nice. The surroundings are clean, and access to diggerland is 2 minutes walk, with 25% discount if you mention that you are on the site. Free to come and go as you please, which was nice to go back to have lunch and top up on drinks etc. And no heavy bags to carry around.
The major let down is the toilets, a portocabin, divided into two, one side for ladies the other for gents. These consist of 2 toilets which would be inadequate should the site be full. Our stay was very quiet with only 2 tents and 2 vans there at the time. Also in the toilets were 2 showers only separated by a mouldy shower curtain. We would not allow our 2 lads to shower alone, as they would normally as anyone entering the toilets, could just whip open there was no security or lock. I was nervous in the shower too, as when anyone walked into the loo, a gust of wind could have blown open the shower curtain and anyone in the field could see right into the loos, as they overlooked the field. The showers were cramped, had no controls or adjustment, and flooded everytime they were used. At the back of the showers a pipe had been broken and there was muck oozing, and the elsan point was disgusting.
There is no shop on site, but a spar shop at a garage over the road stock all every day essentials, so that is not a problem.
Overall the site is ideal for diggerland visitors, lovely walks around the lakes, nice and level, unfortunately the toilets and showers really disappoints and really need looking into. The pay on the day price is definitely not worth the money, and infact we have been on much better sites for the money that we had paid.
