We spent three nights at this two star campsite, arriving on the day and getting a pitch with electricity no problem. At under 20 euros a night, the site offers good value for money. The facilities near the entrance were brand new and immaculate, with plenty hot water and never queues. However, the facilities at the back of the site are quite old-fashioned, so try to pitch near the front. There were also laundry facilities, a pool room and they sold cold drinks at reception. The site was ideal for us as we never use 4 star facilities on sites, such as bars and entertainment. The warden spoke limited English and was very helpful. It was particularly suitable due to the absence of children, making it a very peaceful stay, despite its position on a busy road.
The location of the site was excellent. A few minute's walk brings you to the Commercial Centre, with a huge supermarket and other retail outlets. A few minutes in the other direction takes you to the excellent coastline. Opposite the campsite is a range of bar-cafes, but the food looked mediocre so we passed on it! It is only a 10 minute walk into the centre of La Tranche Sur Mer, which offers an array of excellent bars, restaurants and a tourist information centre. There are also many shops in town geared towards tourists. The site is also a on an excellent cycle network: bikes can be hired in La Tranche Sur Mer for about 6-8 euros.
