Class site especially down by the river.
Loved everything about this place. From the scenery to the showers and the great remote location.
With no phone TV or radio signal. Except wireless signal in shop garden. Class.

A huge campsite with many areas that felt so natural it didn't feel like a campsite.
We camped on top of a hill in beautiful weather so it felt like we were in Telly-Tubbie land.
With dogs welcome, tawny owls calling, beautiful waterfalls in close proximity and firepits allowed its a perfect place for a reset.
Can't wait to go back.

We wanted a remote and quiet campsite and this one was perfect. We were in the top field beyond the toilets (there are three levels from the riverside going up and there is also another field with EHU on the other side of the hamlet of Keld) which has some lovely flat spots with great views.
We were fortunate enough to have the most incredible weather and the meadows were in full flower and full of ground nesting birds which were a delight to hear, especially the Curlews.
There are two toilets and two showers down near the car park, all of which were rustic but spotlessly clean with great shower pressure and lovely hot water. There’s no phone signal nor radio reception so it’s completely cut off from the outside world which we loved. You can pick up wifi in the cafe garden & part of the car park if you really need it.
There is a cafe with a lovely garden with shady spots in which to recover over a cuppa and a cake after a long day’s walking. There is also another cafe at the top of the hamlet but we didn’t visit so can’t comment.
We stayed three nights and walked everywhere. The first full day we walked along the right hand side of the river to Muker and recovered in the pub (very hot day!) before walking back via the opposite bank and dipping our feet in the waterfall just before you get back into Keld. There is also a cafe and shop in Muker but it’s shut on Wednesdays. The walk is between 5 & 6 miles long and I’d suggest decent walking boots.
The second day we walked the other way along the river and then north and up onto the Pennine way and back to the campsite. We did discover that you can walk to Ravenseat (Our Yorkshire Farm/Yorkshire Shepherdess) where they do cream teas via a footpath that you can pick up in West Stonesdale which is about a mile northwest of the site. It would probably be a six mile round trip and something we’ll do when we visit again.
If you want complete peace and quiet then this is the place to be. We visited during the week and in term time so I would imagine it’s busier on weekends and holidays.

Perfect. Great showers with piping hot water.
Lovely pitches near the river. Great swimming and walking closeby.
Quiet and away from the crowds. Will be returning.

We were 3 walkers walking the Herriot Way. This site doesn't take bookings, but I called a week ahead to check if it was likely to be full. Luckily, I was told they always make room for walkers.
We arrived around 5:30 and the shop was still open and well stocked with food, snacks, soft drinks, beers, as well as basic toiletries and first aid.
We had a smooth check in and as the site was not very busy, we were told we could pick a pitch we liked. We got really lucky with a pitch at the top of a hill with gorgeous views.
The facilities were very good and clean, hot showers, indoor toilets and an indoor and outdoor wash up area.
The owners were very friendly and really helped us out when one of my friends backpack load adjustment straps snapped off - they lent us a needle and thread to repair it.

We passed through for one night doing our DofE walk.
It was very nice pitch and we had plenty of room to ourselves even on a bank holiday.
The facilities were nice and it was nicely located along the riverside.
The people were very friendly and helpful.
Thanks, we are all looking forward to our next stay :)

A great site in the Yorkshire Dales. One of the very few where you don't book and just turn up.
The views are great, there's several different area's for camping including the riverside.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. The site has a small shop for basics and a cafe serving ice cream, bacon butties, etc.
Fires are allowed in the firepits provided and logs/kindling are available from the shop.
The showers were hot and the toilets were always clean.
A great place if you want to get away from it all, there's no mobile signal on any network available.
The prices are £10 per adult and £4 for children.

This is the Site to choose if you enjoy walking and the open air. We used the upper field where there are hookups and benefited from great views down the Dale from our window.
There are so many walks available on the doorstep that its difficult to list them all.
The facilities are all down near the Farmhouse in the lower fields and this would be one disadvantage of being at the opposite end of Keld 'village' (or is it hamlet?).
You had to walk down for a shower, to clean dishes and use toilet. They are all kept clean and are in keeping in style with the rest of the Site and had lots of hot water.
The drinking water tap in this field is a standard house tap without a hozelock type fitting so filling a motorhome tank was slow and damp. At the other end of the scale, there is no grey water disposal for a motorhome. A couple of niggles that prevent 10/10.
We found the Site owners to be friendly and helpful. Remember, though, you have to see them and check in before taking a pitch. Pricing is reasonable at £10/adult/night + £4 for EHU.

Some of the best views I've ever seen up on the hills. The facilities were fantastic.
Literally the shower pressure and heat was amazing.
Only 2 showers but we were in and out very quick.
The reception staff are very helpful and kind. Made us feel welcome from the start.
Could not recommend this site enough. 5* all round.

Very pleasant stay.
Owners were very helpful and bought the most delicious cake from reception.
Reasonable price.
Little bit of a walk to the toilets but they were very clean and a decent shower. X
