This campsite is amazing!. The medieval style tents have amazing attention to detail and to be honest are simply luxurious! There is everything there that you could possibly need. Including a proper beds, this was a god send for me being 30 weeks pregnant at the time!
The grounds of the campsite have been beautifully landscaped, there is a stone table and a circle of tree stumps hidden in the field for campers to explore and find. Benches have been placed discretely placed at key points to enjoy the views. It is amazing to sit and watch the sun go down glass of wine in hand in such beautiful surroundings.
We simply loved the hammocks which are wonderful to sit back in and relax! I don’t think we have relaxed and slept so much before!
Jane and Stace the owners of the campsite are superb! And cannot do enough for you, including suggestions of what to go and see in the area and hidden restaurants! Jane has also provided a small shop for emergency provisions! There is a small pool surrounded by a selections of deck chairs and sun loungers which is fantastic for those hot French afternoons!
We also made friends with the duck families that inhabit the pond! They became very brave by the end of our week there! Lorkey, Jane and Stace’s wonderful dog is also a bonus to the campsite. Although I would stress here that she is incredibly well behaved and if dogs are not your thing she would not bother you in anyway! However if you love dogs as we do she is fantastic! Jack the cat is also a resident but Jack tends to be an observer of his surroundings and just makes sure that all it ticking along fine!
There are only 3 tents so it is amazingly personal, the shower is also the best I have ever experienced at a campsite! The facilities can only be described as wonderfully clean and modern but still with the medieval theme running through! There is also a handy fridge for all your cheese, the fridge has a small freezer compartment where Jane has stashed a number of ice packs to use in the cool box that is provided in your tent.
There are fire pits so that you can have open fires in the evening which was wonderfully romantic! Jane and Stace provided a huge basket of wood so there is no need to worry about going hunting for suitable fire wood! The nearest shop is approx a 5 min drive away which holds all the basics that you would need. Parthenay. Is only a short drive with its amazing medieval quarter and quaint shops and restaurants!
I could rave about this campsite for ages but in a nutshell We really have nothing negative to say, it was the prefect holiday, the prefect place with the perfect atmosphere! We simply loved it!
