Pam and Adrian present a beautifully run, quiet and friendly little caravan site. They take only three caravans at a time so there's plenty of space. Note that they only do take caravans, no motorhomes/campers or tents, and CAMC members only.
As advertised, the facilities are basic, but immaculately clean – a wc in a newly re-painted block, with cold water – no hot. The WC room also has helpful local tourist information leaflets. The caravan toilet disposal point goes into a septic tank, so biodegradable loo fluid only.
This site has one of the best views of any we've stayed on, across Port Logan's bay with Telford’s striking pier and bell tower, and westwards over the Irish Sea towards Belfast and County Down, often visible in the distance, with at night a couple of light houses/beacons from there, and for us, a series of brilliant sunsets.
We realise that we were unreasonably spoilt with seven days of brilliant Maytime sunshine, with vivid yellow gorse, pink thrift, and a superb variety of birds including gannets diving, but for all our good weather, Pam's quite clear than when the wind blows up there, it blows!
All pitches are grass. We had no rain, but it looks like a field that drains well, and when towing, entrance is via the top end, exit via the gate at the bottom, so no uphill towing problems if it did get muddy.
The field slopes, so levelling is called for and they have blocks to lend for this purpose if needed. It may be worth checking first if you have a seriously long caravan.
Communication beforehand was friendly and helpful, the welcome on arrival was very good, and if any help were needed I'm sure Pam and Adrian would offer it, though they don't interfere with their guests' holidays.
When initially booking we wondered if, with a minimum of 7 nights' stay, we might run out of things to do - no such problem, instead we felt reluctant to leave when the time came!
There are excursions to make round the area, from the vital visit to the Mull of Galloway to the footprint of an unusual Pictish broch at Ardwell Bay, as well as trips further afield, and some pleasing walks from the campsite, both along the beach and up the coast path, with skylarks competing to sing loudest.
We try to report strengths and weaknesses of sites. Here we can't think of any weaknesses!
Altogether a lovely site and well worth the time spent there.

Tony and I have just spent a week on this lovely CL. Our motorhome pitch was perfect with the hook up - water and toilet really close by. The view from our window of the bay and sea across to Ireland was just stunning and we enjoyed watching the small fishing boats in the little harbour below the site. Just a short walk down to the beach and a lovely walk round the bay. The sunsets were fantastic. Pam and Adrian made us feel so welcome and secure. We booked for four nights and stayed seven - what more can we say !
Recently reopened by new owners, this site is a gem. The views from the widely spaced pitches are amazing. We hardly watched TV, we just stared out of the window at the sea, the bay, fishing boats, and the birds.
The owners were very friendly and approachable and the 'maritime' themed toilet was charming and spotless, though no shower - not a problem for us as we have one in the van.
The dogs loved the beach which is just a minute's walk away. We also loved Logan Botanic Gardens and the Fish Pond. Weather gorgeous, sunshine and warm for this time of year, though breezy as it is on top of a cliff.
Makes sense to stock up on groceries before you arrive as the nearest shop (Drummore) is 5 miles away.
This will be a regular destination for us and have already booked for next year!
We visited this CL site for a week. We had our caravan with our 3 dogs and my partner's parents came with their caravan. The views from site are amazing. The site is slightly sloping, but we eventually got the caravan level. The beach is a 3-4 minute walk downhill and is absolute heaven! The village comprised of houses and 1 pub. There are no shops or other amenities in the village. The pub served excellent food and the tables outside it are perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and watching the sun set. The nearest big town is Stranraer which has got pretty much every shop you could need, including Tesco. The botanic gardens near to the site are well worth a visit.
The site itself has an outdoor building with a shower cubicle, sink and toilet in it, which was quite dated but very clean - still a bonus for a CL site. We would definitely recommend this site if you want to really get away and have some peace and quiet. Not good for children due to lack of facilities in the village, but excellent for adults.
