We enjoyed our stay at The Half Moon finding the facilities clean and very well maintained/new.
A bonus being located next to the pub and several beautiful walks within close proximity of the campsite.
Ample space and activities for children to explore and immerse themselves in.

I've just made an enquiry with the Half Moon Pub and they no longer do camping - presumably after the recent change in ownership.

Stayed here for one night on the August bank holiday. Friends had just bought a new tent and we went with them to try it out. As it was the Sunday night over the bank holiday we found it very difficult to get two pitches anywhere so was grateful when I phoned on the Saturday morning and there were vacancies.
The Half Moon is on the South Down trail and is used by hikers and ramblers on route. We arrived about midday on the Sunday in heavy rain. Went in to let them know we had arrived and have a drink before pitching. The restaurant was busy and a lot of the tables were reserved for Sunday lunch. We thought we should book being there were 8 of us and asked for the latest we could -they booked us a table for 3pm. The food was lovely - Sunday roast with desert for 5 adults and 3 kids with drinks was just over £100.
The owner was really helpful, the pitches are in the field directly behind the pub, with fantastic views of the south downs. There is no electric hook ups - literally just a field. A few pitches sort of marked out in the middle with picnic tables to use. There were also a few tents pitched on the edge under some trees, between the field and the pub is a children's playground with swings and climbing frames and goalposts, which is used by both the campers and people using the pub - plenty of picnic tables there too.
The only let down being there was only one toilet and shower and sink to wash up which was in an unused mobile home next to the field - not ideal. We used the toilet in the pub while it was open, the owner being fine with that. Only a couple of tents and us there, so was ok - but if it was busier would be a problem.
The owner has not long taken over and is hoping to address this, which would be good as other than that it was perfect for a weekend. Price was £4 per adult and £2 per child per night. We went to Brighton the next day which was about 11 miles away and the owner let us leave our trailers in the car park and collect them on our way home, which was great. Would definitely use again - very easy going, great location and great views.
