Site is just nice out of Keswick, with nice views bus at the end of the road, 5 minutes walk. Sited on large hard core, but units seem a bit close, my van door was 8 feet away from next doors awning.
Washroom clean and tidy, but don't agree having to pay 50pence for a shower, which you end up paying a pound, when you have paid a site fee which is not exactly cheap. You also have to pay 20p to use a hair dryer, my wife paid her money and it didn't work, not pleased again. Also you pay for wi fi. Site advertises a restaurant, but that only opens when they feel like it. Not impressed and wouldn't stay again.
We used this as stopover on the way south from Scotland. Basic site, but had all we needed for an overnight visit. The views are spectacular, we were very lucky with a beautiful summer's evening sat watching the rabbits, pheasants and owls appearing from the woods.
This was my first full holiday in the caravan, having only spent weekends in it previously, and this site was a pleasant contrast to some of the more commercial sites we'd stayed. Would use it again as either a stopover or a base to explore the north of the Lakes.
First ever camping trip away from the garden - and despite the inevitable wind and rain, we have had a relaxing two days! This is a working dairy/arable farm with a space for a few pitches. The owners (and their two lovely boys) were very friendly and helpful.
The site has a nice clean portaloo toilet facility- an essential if you have small children.
There are stunning long distance westward views from the site. Excellent well kept grass for pitching/pegging the tent onto. Cows at the perimeter fence which entertained our three year old no end. The owners also very kindly allowed us to see the cows being milked which was great.
Finally I would just like to mention the unbelievable bargain cost of the pitch per night, which gave us amazing value for money for a family of three and two dogs. Without doubt we will be back!
There is now a loo and EHU on site. The views are spectacular and it is so peaceful. Our very rainy summer has made this quick draining camp field very soggy for which the owners were very apologetic. They are considering laying two hard standings and that would be a real bonus for all year round campers like us.
This is the first season for this young enthusiastic couple and what a tough time they have had! They deserve some support-if you like the peaceful Cumbrian countryside, please give them a try. You will be assured of a warm welcome
Nestling in the beautiful Eskdale Valley close to Scafell, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, this site is a children's paradise in the heart of the Lake District. The first thing that meets you on arrival is the pond, fed by a stream and usually full of children paddling and playing on tyre rafts. The playground has zip wires, climbing frames, tyre rope-swings and adventure courses.
Grass pitches (some with EHU) for tents, motorhomes, VW-sized campervans (no caravans). Refurbished toilets, showers and laundry. Peace is the watchword on the campsite - catering mainly for families and couples with silence after 10.30pm. Don't forget your marshmallows - campfires are allowed in selected areas. Nearby shop and pub. And there's an added extra: the site sits along the route of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway line, with it's own station. Choo Choo! Find out more here
Not only the first review, but the first camper for this newly qualified CS site! Small site, gentle slope, so take levellers! This is a small field, with waste water/tap and drinking water - no loos/washing facilities/showers - you need to have them onboard, but the price per night reflects this at £5. There is a chemical waste disposal at the farm, about 200 yards from site. The owners are waiting to have the EHU connected as I write and that shouldn't be long now.
Very peaceful site, with wonderful views over the lakeland hills. Easy to find, just off the A6 and up the hill. Stayed for two overnight stops on way to and from the highlands. Not far from Shap and Armathwaite villages, but didn't have a chance to explore the area. Had two lovely overnighters with great, friendly people and would go again!
