This site was an experiment for us. Many moons ago we booked our first metered ehu site & vowed never to do it again. How could we possibly have used £9 worth of electricity in 24 hours when we were out all day?? Ok it was cold (April) but seriously… £9!

Anyway, fast forward a few years & we decided to give it another try & chose Willoways, mainly because of the reviews, we loved the pictures on their website & also because the pitch fee was very favourable so even if we used £10 of electricity each day, it would still be a fair price compared to what other sites were charging. H

Aving had our fingers burnt previously, we decided to be very careful with our usage & keep a close eye on the meter but were pleasantly surprised to find that we didn’t use a fraction of what we anticipated.

In all the 10 nights of our stay, we only used about £25 which equates to £2.50 per night. Ok, this time it was May but even so, our two experiences couldn’t have been more different & we would definitely visit this lovely site again, hopefully in the not too distant future.

Communication with the owners was very good & we were provided with the code for the gate prior to our arrival. The site was easy to find, easy to access with no single tracks to negotiate & the pitches were huge so if you aren’t confident with reversing, you could drive straight onto the pitch.

We read the ehu meter on arrival, as advised, but had to request a top up after a couple of days as it dropped down to less than £5 (there was only £9.50 on it when we arrived) & this was dealt with efficiently without any inconvenience to ourselves.

There are no toilets or showers so you have to be self sufficient but what there is, is a lovely lake with a fantastic walk where you could see ducks, rabbits, the resident heron, kingfishers or even the odd deer. My sleep was disturbed one night by a sound I wasn’t familiar with but which I believe was a fox.

Willoways is a family site & if my 5 year old granddaughter had been with us, I’m sure she would have totally enjoyed all the wildlife; the birdsong was truly beautiful.

Our border terrier enjoyed the walk around the lake & we enjoyed a waterside picnic in the sunshine.

Across the road, to the left of the entrance is another lovely walk, all the way to the river Waveney where we enjoyed a drink at the fisherman’s inn, in the lovely beer garden, down by the riverside, watching the boats go by.

I would highly recommend this site, it is truly a credit to the owners. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Another great stay at Willoways due to covid we didn't see the owners as much as we usually do.

The toilet was closed which we didn't miss as we never use it anyway,

The fishing was hard as I forgot my weed rake, as the lake is very weedy, but caught a few young tench and small carp, which seem to be growing well.

Covid arrangements where good spray bottles at each gate and water point's and a secure box to leave your payment when you leave.

At £10 a night (£1 price increase this year) and £26 used on the pay as you go electric for 19 nights is a reasonable price for what you get.

Our 2nd visit here and we had a lovely week with the weather, so pleased we had a slight shade under a tree by the pond.

We love this site as Tim who we didn't see this time, and his son in law are really nice people and helpful.

Location is great and its always so quiet especially at night.

Caravan Club CL site, this is a great site close to everything 10 min drive to the beach.

Shops, takeaway's and restaurants near by.

A bus stop close by which will take you too Norwich, Great Yarmouth and surrounding areas.

But if you just fancy chilling out this is the site for you, wildlife in abundance, and a free fishing lake to fish.

This is everything I need from a CL site just wish there were more like this.

We are not staying on this site but on Deodara the sister site next door. As they are not on ukcampsite I'm posting our review here. Firstly, great booking with Tim, secondly great directions.

Site so peaceful and very well drained which we blessed after having the most horrendous weather in our 50 year history of visiting the area. We liked the idea of metered electric as Tim sells it for what he buys it for which is not often the case on some sites where they charge £5 a night. Yes we did use a lot of electric because it was bitterly cold and rained non stop with very high blustery winds for 3 solid days so it was heating on 24/7 and the TV but if it had been warmer and drier we would have only used £1 a night.

We will be back as it's a lovely setting next to the pond. Thanks for such a lovely stay Tim and also thanks to your son in law for bringing over a map and bus time table. We will get back xx (Mr & Mrs Barber & Darlington).

What a fantastic site, just what you want from a CL, during booking and prior to arrival we spoke to Tim on the phone and what a friendly bloke he is, helpful, happy and nothing seemed to much bother, this was the same when we arrived, coming to see us after we pitched and sorting out the electric, giving us maps of the local area and recommendations on the local area.

The site is a flat grassed area well spaced out, with the hookups which are via payment cards, I must say that we didn't use as much electricity as we thought, about £1 a day (this includes using the heating all night).

There is one toilet but we didn't use this facility (access to all areas is via a coded lock so only residents can use). Water tap in the entrance and in the adjacent paddock is the toilet disposal (pipe in the ground one of the easiest I've used) with its own tap,

That's about it really no play facilities but there is a good fishing lake via the adjacent paddock, didn't have a go but saw some nice fish being caught, good dog walking area (try crossing the bridge and follow your nose.

When we return to this area we will most definitely be returning and would recommend this site without any hesitation.

This was a nice CL site

The owner is very pleasant. I phoned him to see if he had a space, he said yes and gave me the code to get in and told me where to be.

This site has a very fair system for the electricity - you pay for what you use, we stayed one night and didn't even use one full unit. This proves how much some sites are charging for electric.

There is a toilet on site but we put our toilet tent up near our camper so we could use it for our young daughter without having to walk down the drive.

There is a lovely walk around the pond with lots of wildlife to see.

We would use this site again.

This is a great site set in very picturesque surroundings. 5 well spaced out pitches all with hook ups. The owner Tim, is a very nice guy who let us pitch in his garden when we arrived early and he had vans on all 5 pitches (he sticks firmly to the rules, only 5 vans on site),Tim also has a fishing lake in an adjoining field which he let us fish for free although it is a day ticket water.

As mentioned, the toilet is not next to the caravan pitches but is a lot closer than many commercial sites I have been on and was very handy for our 4 year old grandson. There is a tesco express about 1/2 a mile away and large tesco and asda on the edge of great yarmouth about 4miles away yarmouth is the best place I know for kids and the petting zoo at nickolas everitt park Lowestoft is brilliant.

This safe secure site (coded gate)is perfect for touring this area and the nicest cl I have found.

 A Caravan Club Certified Location.

Open all year, Willoways is a comfortable, quiet and classic style C.L. With a rural feel about it. It consists of a well sheltered field, measuring very approximately 70M x 50M which is part of a much larger farm. Each pitch has a 16A EHU. There is a basic, but perfectly acceptable w.c. facility. I feel the w.c. Is a little too far from the pitches to be described as convenient, so I would suggest that own sanitation might be useful. But remember this is a C.L., so having a w.c. At all is actually a bonus.

We stayed in March when the trees were bare, but I would imagine that it would be quite attractive when everything is green. Adjacent to the pitches is a well fenced piece of water which attracts numerous ducks and can be fished for a small charge.

I can do no better than refer you to their website for a full description, which you will find is totally representative. (Other than perhaps omitting direct reference to Gt.Yarmouth’s bling. But it does say you can see shows like Jim Davidson and The Crankies, so you have been warned!)

Watch out for the entrance. Whilst it is clearly signed, it is also easy to go sailing past, in which case, reversing or finding the opportunity to turn your combination round is difficult.
