This is a very large commercial site used by tour operators such as Canvas Holidays. It is efficiently run, with good, modern, well maintained facilities. It borders on lake Garda with a cordoned off safe swimming area. There is also a large swimming pool and other facilities that you might expect at this type of site.
We were fortunate to get a pitch about 20 m from the lake. Our pitch had both a water tap and grey water disposal point.
There are mature trees around most of the pitches, but there is no separation between the pitches.
This is not a quiet site, with lots of young families having fun. One evening we were kept awake by two small crying children, a friendly but boisterous Italian family having a BBQ, and an open air disco!
As a compensation, the take away pizza from the on camp restaurant was one of the best that we have ever enjoyed - I wish our local eateries would go and take lessons!
It is possible to drive to nearby Desenzano and park free in the station car park so allowing a day trip, by train, into Venice.
We found the girl in the tourist office at Desenzano to be very helpful, with stacks of useful information and leaflets to be had.
We were a little disappointed that the roads around the lake are rather busy and felt unsafe for cycling. However, if you take your bikes to Peschiera and use the free car park near the station, you can cycle the relatively flat and traffic free route alongside the river Mincio, to see, for example, the beautiful medieval village of Borghetto.
As a retired couple, we would have preferred a smaller, quieter, site, but there are few alternatives around this popular destination. This would be a great location for a family holiday.
