Always avoided this as I thought it was a holiday park and there'd be too many people, However, daughter talked me into going and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Small site with hedged pitches so very private, facilities were spotless and heated and the staff were helpful and friendly.

There is a beautiful riverside walk from the site into castlebar town which has everything anyone could possibly need, including great eateries.

A 20 minute drive took us to the Kiltamagh Velorail which was great fun (even if it did hail on us) and a 10 minute drive took us to a nearby lake for swimming.

Will definitely be returning

This is a nice site but the description is wrong, it is not a lakeside setting as they imply and you have to go out around the cemetery to get to the lake and there is a small walk around it but not all the way around. We were on our own there as the season had almost ended and they closed 2 days after we left.

The toilets and showers were immaculate and there was free use of the Gym next door, security was a bit of an issue as the people going to and from the gym sometimes drove around the site and they shouldn't have been there, there was a height barrier which stopped high vehicles coming in but not cars.

There was a small restaurant on site but we didn't use it so cant comment on the food, the Owner was very nice and couldn't do enough to help us.

Castlebar itself was ok with takeaways and local shops with tesco a ten minute walk away.
