We decided to book this site as it was 'pet friendly', so that we could take our little dog. However we were very disappointed with with the accommodation provided.
We are a family of five, and bedding only provided for four. The extra bedding was given to us by the lady at the office when we asked for it, however, this should have been provided in line with the booking form and ready for us when we arrived in the caravan.
Caravan utensils were not clean. Mugs and plates had to be washed before use. The grill pan was disgusting and had someone else’s food on it.
The bathroom sink was dirty.
The caravan windows were filthy and when we opened the windows there were cobwebs everywhere behind the curtains/nets and attached to the windows. There were also cobwebs and dead spiders on the ceilings in the bedrooms and main living areas. The van itself was dusty and dirty as though it hadn’t been cleaned or checked prior to our arrival.
The carpet in the living area was covered in what appeared to be dog hair and dirt. We appreciate it was a caravan for people with pets and we had our dog with us too, but it should have been hoovered/disinfected before our arrival. If we had been a family with a small toddler, we would not have been able to put the child on the floor as it was covered in someone else’s dirt and dog hair.
Not all the TV channels were working; it was difficult to get most of the channels.
The green bin provided at the side of the van was full on arrival. It was not checked at all during our stay and after two days I had to ask the gentleman on the site to empty it.
The fold out bed in the living room was extremely uncomfortable and a nightmare to put up/down.
The dining table was unstable and appeared to tilt from side to side, as though it was loose. This could have been dangerous with 3 children using it at mealtimes etc.
The standard of cleanliness and hygiene was extremely poor and unacceptable and did not reflect in the 5 star rating given to the site.
The site itself was in a great location with lovely views and the lady was helpful on our arrival. Unfortunately it was difficult to speak to the manager(s) at the office/shop as there was always another guest around.
