We have stayed at this site twice, in 2009 and 2010. It is ideally placed to catch the ferry from Punta Sabbioni to Venice and Murano. What a fab site this is, bi-lingual friendly staff, you get priority if you book year on year, get to pick your pitch.
You can request pitches if you are booking for the 1st time, depends if anyone else has priority over it. It has a good pool complex, which I believe has been improved again this year, with lifeguards and children's entertainment and direct access to a lovely sandy beach with lifeguards and a cafe/bar to walk down to.
The sea was lovely and warm, you could hire pedaloes and canoes. There was aquafit and aerobics in/near the pool most days. Shows at night for children.
There were jellyfish further out in the sea so needed to be mindful. We did get stung, the lifeguard had cream, didn't put us off though as so hot we needed to be in the sea. Downside was the beach sellers who were around most of the day, you just needed to ignore them!
We stayed on the B pitches, close to the beach, had a choice of sanitary blocks - all cleaned well twice or more a day, at busy times they were cleaning up continually. Washing up facilities were good, washing machines and dryers were 3 euros and good.
There is a small supermarket on site and a greengrocers - both reasonably priced as it's a fair drive to larger supermarkets. We cycled to Treporti to buy fresh fish. You could buy fresh bread and pastries daily, meat was pre packed but good. The wine in the shop was cheap, I believe this year they have some on tap too.
The site had bbq nights twice whilst we were there in 2010, for 9 euros you got a tray of various bbq meats with fries and a large glass of wine or coke. Everyone sat at long trestle tables, would recommend doing this, a cheap way of eating out, we did it both nights.
The restaurant was busy most nights, they serve wonderful pizzas which you can take away too, delicious. There were other shops, restaurants you could cycle/drive to. We cycled to Punta Sabbioni, safer for older kids, a cycle path most of the way, there is also a bus service outside the site. It is a very busy area though in peak season.
Aqualandia, the water park nearby isn't cheap but is a great day out with some scary and brilliant rides. Food was reasonably priced, a large slice of pizza was 3 euros. Chocolate covered strawberries were 4 euros.
The site also had bikes to hire and sold inflatables, chairs and all manner of beach and outdoor equipment. Be warned toiletries are not cheap here or in supermarkets, neither is sun lotion so pack enough.
The site is around 800 pitches, made up of caravans and tents to hire and people with their own units. The 'young people' pitch in the forest part, away from families. We never had a problem with noise. All entertainment is down by the pool and isn't on really late. Lots of Italians as you'd expect and Germans, if we tried to speak Italian they assumed we were German, which was fun, they do all speak English though in the shop some more than others.
We were one of about 6 English families on site and there were 3 families in our party. Doesn't bother us though, we prefer it. Everyone was friendly. It has a nightclub at the entrance to the park, never heard any noise from this.
The resort has a firework display you wouldn't believe at the end of the season, last year it was around the 21st, this year it's the 27th. It is unbelievable, we've been in the Disney parks and it beats theirs. Everyone takes chairs and wine down to the beach. A lovely evening.
It is a long drive, it took us 2 days, sailed from Hull to Zebrugge, the first night we stayed at the services in Germany, weird but lots of people do it, there is security around. Showers, loos and food/drinks plus a garage and McDonalds which was great for the return leg as we arrived there late and there was not time to cook.
The leg from Germany to the site is tough, long, but worth it when you get there, we arrived at about 7 each year and had set off at about 8 so not for the faint hearted. Same on the return leg, the journey from Germany to Zebrugge is the much better day. Gotthard tunnel can be a problem, queueing.
