This is a very basic site simply with fresh water and a chemical disposal point. The field is approx. 1 acre and is fully fenced off with a couple of electric hookup points. Access to the site is via an electronic key fob and upon first arrival they have to let you in, so if your unit is long, you will be waiting in the lane, but it is not that busy, so nothing to worry about.
The owner was friendly and wandered over to introduce himself and take payment and membership number. He also told us about the area and where to find the tap and chemical disposal point.
The field is quite bumpy, but there are plenty of flat spots to pitch your tent or caravan and awning. We were also allowed a BBQ as it was raised off the ground.
There was no play area on the site, but plenty of space for games in the field. Plenty of walking and cycling opportunities too.
It is located on a country lane and at rush hour times, it can be used as a cut through, but the levels of traffic and noise were hardly noticeable and not something that would deter me from coming again.
Because it is down a country lane it is set in the country and the views are stunning, overlooking rolling hills, very relaxing to chill and take in the bird noise and sounds of the country
The location is only about half a mile from the A10, so access is not a problem and there was a rather large caravan there when we were and he had no problems getting in. Being located close the A10, the site is also close to many villages for your basics, or for your further shopping needs, there is a Tesco and much more in Ware.
Ware itself is a lovely village with a canal running through it, offering lovely walks down the towpath in either direction. Hertford is also pretty close boasting good shops and a castle stooped in history. There are many other places to visit locally too but we did not venture out as only there for the one evening of relaxation.
The site is dog friendly and the owners have two Bernese mountain dogs which, although were generally kept in the garden of the owners farm, they were more than capable of scaling the small fence and running free in the camping field. This did not overly bother me, as I don't mind friendly dogs, but they kept walking up to our unit and every time they did this, they barked and would set my dog off. If you shoo them away, they do listen, but do like to bark.
The same is said for them when you wander down to get fresh water, they sit near the tap and bark and hassle you on the way. Again, they are not vicious, just annoying. Maybe the site owners could keep them out of the camping field when people are camping.
At £6 per unit per night without electric hookup, the site is a bargain and is in a lovely setting with peace and quiet (when the dogs are inside)
