This a really super campsite in the most stunning location in the Tuscan hills. Very efficiently run with excellent facilities.
Pools have amazing views over the valley and are well-supervised - the lifeguard is fond of his whistle and runs a tight ship but as a result, there are no loud games in the pool and it's a nice place to be. You pay for sunloungers by the day or you can take towels.
The restaurant on site was really good with fun and loud Italian service and very good pizza and pasta. It is also open during the day if you fancy a decent coffee or a piece of cake, and the gelateria does gorgeous icecreams for a sensible price considering its captive market.
The information desk is run by two extremely knowledgeable and efficient girls and they gave us loads of useful information, including maps for Florence (under an hour away) and arranged table bookings at nearby restaurants. We didn't take them but there were various tours and trips organised, which we might have used if we had stayed longer. The nearby village of San Baronto is lovely with some nice restaurants and Vinci (as in Leonardo) is an absolute stunner and well worth a visit. It was very hot though (obviously as it was August) so that did mean we didn't go as far afield as we had hoped but another time, we'd venture to Lucca and the hills beyond Pistoia, which have some stunning views.
The site is on a hill and as a result, most of the tent pitches are pretty irregular and sadly none have the lovely view that the pool enjoys. However, the wash blocks seemed really clean and traffic moved very slowly so it was very child-friendly. The only negative from our point of view was the fact that nearly all the tourists were Dutch. It would have been nice to have a better mix of nationalities, especially some Italians seeing as we were in Italy, but luckily my children found a handful of English children staying on site and made friends quickly.
In conclusion, this is not a site to come to if you are looking for wild nightlife or loud all day entertainment. It's ideal for those wanting to enjoy the beauty of Tuscany and relax in a stunning setting. Site was lovely and quiet at night too so everyone slept well. A wonderful site that everyone is keen to return to.
