We meant to stay 3 nights but went home after two as the relentless road noise day and night was wearing. If you went for a walk by the river or the canal - still the road noise - so no escape. As the video specifically mentioned Quiet, Peaceful, Tranquillity and Very Relaxing we were not amused. The site is as they say 'manicured' which means ear-splitting racket from hedge-cutters and ride-on mowers - right next to anyone trying to have the 'very relaxing, quiet, peaceful afternoon' they expected, without a mint of apology. The facilities are above reproach but you have to be quick after dark as the lights don't give you long before going out again. The kiddies area was good and there were plenty of books to be borrowed. One pub was 'For Sale' and didn't do meals anyway and the other, we were told didn't do meals Sunday night or Monday. The village shop was well stocked with a pleasant owner. First person we spoke to said 'do remember to close your windows at night or you will never sleep with the road noise. ' The road was out of sight, across the river but sound reverberated.
Nice site, easy to find (but don't use the postcode), it's next to the large cream coloured house just over a mile south of Twywn (on the right going south) and has a big pine tree which is a good landmark. The owner is a pleasant man. There is an adequate shower and loo found through the house gate, down the garden and round to the right past a mobile home. The only gripe is the road noise which can be a problem if you plan to relax on site.
The coast around here is rather flat and boring (we thought), but there are some lovely places inland, try the Happy Valley road and the Dysynni valley. Twywn is pleasant enough, has a Co-op and Spar, several cafes but only 1 pub (quiz night on Tuesday), a Monday market and 4 charity ships, a fashion outlet shop and the Halo ice cream factory and shop.
