Please note we have been advised that this site has closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks
The site is like going in to someone's back garden, there us a pond with ducks on over looked by a dove cot, there are goats in paddock to one end of the site and further down there is another enclosure with geese, ducks and chickens in it.
The site is clean, tidy and has places that nature is invited to come in to. There are no shows or toilet facilities, this didn't worry us as we did have facilities on board, it does have electric hook ups, water and an elsan disposal point.
When you walk off of the site on to the main road turn left and there is a foot path (about 200mts)that takes you down to the water or you can carry on and there is a post office/shop (about 1/4 mile) a little further on you come to a public house and a different part of the sea front.
We found this to be a friendly and inviting site at a reasonable price for the time of year. There where good views from the site over the river Orwell. We will most certainly be going back. Anyone visiting should note they may need levelling blocks according to what pitch you get.
This is a fantastic little site overlooking the river Orwell, there are plenty of walks and cycling routes around the area and a couple of nice pubs to stop at as well.
The site itself is an adult only site and has a very relaxed feel about it. There are no toilets or washing facilities on the site, but this doesn't bother us as we like to make the most use of our caravan. There is of course an elsan and plenty of water points around the site.
The owner is a perfect gentlemen and comes to make sure everything is ok for you, he keeps a Goat ,a lovely duck pond and chickens and even came and gave us some free eggs in the morning !
If like us you like to connect to the internet via a dongle, you can get a very good reception with Vodafone.
All in all I cant rate this site highly enough, and at £15.00 per night you cant go wrong.
One thing I should add is there are no bins on the site,so you have to take your rubbish away with you, although there is a tip just up the road
