Please note we have been advised that this site is now permanently closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

 Back here again this year.

We arrived just as they were closing for lunch, but they let us in and told us to choose a pitch and come back later, which we did.

It was remarkably quiet, it is usually full here, especially at the end of the week for the Saturday market.

This town and site is on our regular visiting list, we love it here. It may have changed hands again, the family who had it previously were not there, and another man seemed to be in charge. He came out as we arrived, opened the barrier to let us in, and asked us to choose a pitch and come back later.

They have made some changes to the office/reception area, and created a community room with fridges, freezers, hotplate, microwave etc. Not the sort of room you would want to spend much time in, but convenient for cyclist campers.

Not sure what is happening to the bar, I didn't see anyone using it when we were there, though there was a light on. Otherwise, little has changed.

Re the Voie Verte, I disagree with the previous reviewer, we cycled for 30 mins towards Forcalquier and it was a bit samey. Cycling the other direction from the campsite has more features to look at.

The obvious pluses of this site are its proximity to the voie vert, the centre of the old town, fast free wifi on your pitch, good sanitaires with hot water.

The pitches themselves are flat and on the grotty side. Shade is at a premium. The voie vert is brilliant, passing alongside the campsite.

If using it, the route to Céreste is the more interesting as you go up into the Luberon. The other direction to Cavaillon is less interesting except for Pont Julien. There is a bus, line 16, that goes up towards Sault and Mt Ventoux that is well worth trying.

The market, although not of the size of Nyon or Vraison la Romaine, is strung out through the small streets and squares. Hats and herbs and spices a feature of the stalls.

A good convenient campsite

This is great site, close to the town of Apt, walking distance. The street market on Saturday is NOT to be missed. It was busy no Brits except us, Germans, Dutch and French. It is actually a Municipal. The managers a Belgian couple with a baby are great and work very hard. There is a small shop, a bar full of Belgian beer, strongest 10% would you believe! Orders for bread the next day. There is a tent area and a caravan, motorhome area with separate shower blocks but people seemed to use the one nearest. 10amp hookup usual disposal point and water fill. The veloroute cycle track is just outside the entrance, you can go about 8 miles in each direction without traffic. It was 29 in the shade one day we were there, too hot for cycling. I forgot to say they do pizzas also chips for take away. We will definitely return.

Reviewers- mature couple with car, tent and bikes. We have used this site several times, it is well signposted from the main road.

Campsite situation - high above riverside on opposite side to town centre. No access to river from site, but can see over wall at far end of site. Two areas, 1 with rows of undivided pitches, and a smaller area with some undivided pitches and an unmarked section sometimes used by groups of tents. Some trees for shade. Pitches mainly flat and grassy.

Proximity to town - 3 minutes on bike. Worth a visit.

Toilet block - 1 on each area, the one on the larger area is at the very back of the site, I think it may be heated, certainly has a door to keep heat in. On the smaller area, separate for ladies and gents. No enclosed washbasins in ladies, but there is a disabled wetroom just outside the ladies. Washing up under cover, plenty of hot water. Laundry.

Shopping - shops in town, touristy, large market in narrow streets on Saturday. Supermarket 5-10 mins on bike.

Activities - Disused railway line now a cycle lane, access just outside campsite.

Nearby - About 30 min drive to Isle sur la Sorgue and its Sunday brocante, this site is cheaper so might be worth staying here and driving in. Lots of 'villages perche', mediaeval villages to explore. Fontaine de Vaucluse, Gordes, Roussillon all not far.

Price - Moderate
