Hi - I'm new to message posting on the Internet, so be gentle. Been caravanning quite a while, family all love it. Usually meet up with friends - bbq bacon butties to start the day, a few beers, a bottle of wine and another bbq in the evening. Day filled with doing things we wouldn't do at home - markets, car boot sales, tourist attractions, just chilling while kids play and ride bikes - that sort of thing. We've got a couple of days during October half term to ourselves; has anyone got any suggestions where mum, dad, daughter 11, son 5 could go within say 120 mile radius of Manchester (not Lakes as just moved house from there!). Would love to hear from you. DanTheVanMan

Hi Dan, welcome to ukcs. Sorry I can't help with your question, but until someone in the know comes along, have you tried the campsite search button at the top of the page? the reviews are from members who have visited, not just brochure blurb. I'm sure you'll find it useful.
Hi. Welcome to UKCS. Have you checked out the link that Glynn-58 put on? I have stayed there several times with my daughters 13 and 9. As well as the indoor pool, there is a great play area for the kids, which you can see from your pitch. The site is right on the Tissington Trail, great for bike riding with the kids as it is so safe. This site is also near to Dovedale (5 mins drive) which is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen - apart from the pub!!! And the wardens are so friendly and helpful, the owners are a bit miserable though!

Re Highfields, I tried for the hols and is fully booked, settling for sheepwash outside stoke, looks idillic, gonna visit the industrial side of stoke and when done with that Alton Towers. happy hunting most of the sites we tired with pool and similar facilities already booked.
As already said use the virtual brochure, I did and looking forward to our tripaway
There are plenty of places that you could go to from Manchester. Cheshire, North Wales, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Derbyshire etc., I would try and pin point an area and look on the Campsite thread at some of the sites and reviews.
We stayed near Carsington water a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. We were on a C&CC CL but there was also a site at a pub, the Knockerdown Inn, and another nearer the reservoir called Carsington fields campsite.
Have you ever tried Flamingoland in North Yorkshire great value we will be going for our 5th visit with our grandchildren in the October half term break, indoor pool lots of places to eat shows each night and all the fun of the fair fantastic sure you wouldn't be dissapointed and neither would your kids
