Ok, I'm looking for a campsite thats quite near london (doesnt have to be too close, but in london or a neighbouring district) which has a nice relaxed atmosphere, doesn't have all sorts of unwanted facilities (ie. swimming pool, resauarant, childrens playpark. I'm just looking for some toilets, drinking water and maybe a shower block) and I'd really like to be able to light a wood fire to cook on. I'm finiding it really hard to find a nice simple site like this, and i always find that the best way to learn about campsites is through word of mouth. if anyone could help me out I'd be extremely grateful!

You could try Radwell, do a search on the campsite forum. Loos but no showers. Don't thin you can light a fire though. Nice quiet site in the herts countryside and just off the A1.

There's a train station at Robertsbridge and you can get a train straight into London.

loo/shower block near the entrance is much better than the one further away.
