Herding Hill Farm is a dog-friendly AA award winning 5-star campsite located just 1 mile from Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland. We welcome touring caravans, motorhomes/campervans, campers and glampers. Nestled in a peaceful and idyllic moorland location above the ‘Centre of Great Britain' town of Haltwhistle in Northumberland, we are only 1 mile from Hadrian's Wall and just 15 minutes walk from Cawfields Quarry and the Northumberland International Dark Skies Park. Stargazing from the site is amazing when the skies are clear particularly from your own private hot tub.

We are open 50 weeks of the year and have a state of the art energy efficient amenity block with underfloor heating, unisex sauna, drying room, laundry room, covered washing up area, family/accessible bathroom and a further 2 baths within the ladies amenities.

The campsite offers a mix of accommodation including 17 Wigwam cabins (10 Running Water, 3 Big Chief & 4 Wee Brave) many with outdoor hot tubs, 10 large tent pitches, 13 caravan/ motorhome hardstanding pitches, some of them serviced, and a luxury 3 bedroom lodge with outdoor hot tub. For 2020 we have added 2 glossy VW T6 converted campervans for those who want to travel further afield in style.

Free WiFi is available although being in a rural location speeds can vary. Our onsite shop is licensed to sell alcohol and we stock a variety of beers from local breweries. We also prepare homemade pizzas which we deliver direct to your pitch. (The times vary over the year so take a look at our website - we are not offering pizzas in 2020 on account of the Covid restrictions).

We are a child-friendly campsite and children can enjoy our onsite outdoor playground and visit our petting farm to meet our resident pig Bubble, our 3 alpacas, Coco the donkey, Robin our Shetland pony, goats, chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits.

We offer fire pits for hire on both our touring and glamping pitches as well as gas BBQs. We also have an indoor BBQ hut for hire seating up to 20 people if the weather is wet.

If you are towing a caravan please do not follow your Sat Nav as this may take you up Shield Hill from Haltwhistle, which is extremely steep for a caravan.

Travelling from the east on the A69 continue past Haltwhistle and after approximately 3 miles you will see a right turn to Greenhead. After 100 meters turn right at the junction of the B6318 and after 3 miles you will then pick up our brown tourist sign at the Milecastle Inn.

From the West also take the Greenhead turn off the A69.
