Ball Hill Farm's a lovely, unspoilt and ancient cider farm overlooking West Sedgmoor in Somerset.
The farmhouse itself comprises the original 18th Century dwelling, converted barn and "back-house" - old oak beams, ancient blue lias walls, covered inside with lime plaster
Camping is directly up the hill-side in the nineteenth century cider orchard. All its trees are listed, many clustered with mistletoe, the whole a haven for wildlife.
We offer "rough" camping - including self-catering accommodation in a gypsy bowtop caravan.
We restrict our pitches to four so you get privacy & peace and the feeling of being really out under the stars & away from the bustle of everyday life.
Camping's great here - amazing views and the lightest footprint possible:
cold water from the farm supply(no showers); compost toilet; open fire pit with small supply of wood; free parking by the farm; & a walk up the orchard to the pitches. It's a steep climb but worth it for the views you get here.
Prices per tent pitch, per person including children, from £4 per night.
Price for gypsy bowtop from £35 per night for the caravan which sleeps up to 2 adults + 2 small children.
IMPORTANT - see website for full details: http://www.ballhillfarm.org/prices.htm
We're 6 miles from the county town Taunton, the ancient port of Langport, the market town Ilminster.
The Levels, Quantocks, Mendips & Brendons are in view! The Blackdown Hills form the horizon as you walk to your local. West Sedgmoor is laid out below you as you sit outside your tent.
Walking, cycling & bird-watching! Within close proximity are the wildlife & wetland centres of West Sedgmoor, the River Parrett Visitor Trail, the Macmillan Way.
The Bell serves food and there's a post office & shop in the nearby village of Curry Mallet - it's been said they bake the best cakes in Somerset! Our neighbours offer eggs, jams & pickles and fresh veg.

We are 6 miles from Taunton, Langport & Ilminster (bus route 54), close to Junction 25 of the M5, the A303 and A30. Taunton Station, for trains to London, Bristol etc is about a quarter of an hour away.

From Taunton, Rock Hill is the first right after the village of Wrantage. We are 300m up the hill, the first property on the right.
