Description
This is a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site, which accept caravans or motorhomes and usually tents.
This is an adults only site
Pitches: 5 Vans + 10 Tents
Opening Dates next year: 01/04/2025 to 31/10/2025
Sarah and Marcus Lyon have lived at Greets Farm for over 20 years and look forward to welcoming you to their two acre site with stunning views across open countryside towards Castle Howard.
The site has twice been nominated for The Camping and Caravanning Club`s Certificated Site of the Year and we seem to struggle getting reviews ... Not because people don`t like it - but because they want to keep it a secret!
Many guests return time and again, describing it as "camping like it used to be" with the addition of little luxuries such as a decent shower and clean facilities.
Here are just a small sample of comments from our visitors` book...
"This is our first rural campsite and what a treat it is. Great site, friendly owners and a lovely pub nearby. What more do you need?"
"Wonderful, peaceful and so pretty. Love everything. We`re well seasoned campers and couldn`t fault it. We`ll be back."
Our facilities basically comprise a shower and toilet block with pot wash. A limited number of electric hook-up points.
Fantastic bus network, 18th Century village pub, the Crown & Cushion, within walking distance. Village bakery and cafe; Dogh
ADULTS ONLY - NO CHILDREN
Having enjoyed welcoming families for many years, now our own children are grown-up the campsite is for adults only. Small surcharge for non Camping and Caravanning Club members who agree to follow club rules to ensure we stay such a gem of a site.
The history (and shopping!) of York is 13 miles away, while Scarborough is 25 miles and the traditional market town of Malton - known as the "food capital of Yorkshire" - just five miles.
Greets Farm lies in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is surrounded by a network of footpaths.
Castle Howard is less than three miles away, along with its sister attraction Kew Arboretum at Castle Howard
Other attractions range from the tranquil Yorkshire Lavender at Terrington - a lovely village, which is home to an excellent and well-stocked village stores and tearoom (perfect if you want a proper breakfast without the washing up!) - and Eden Camp War Museum
No visit is complete without a trip to the seaside - Scarborough, Whitby and Filey are all within easy reach. Don`t forget Pickering - home of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Dalby Forest. You really ought to see the Moors as well...
We pride ourselves on having a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, without lots of rules. However - because we are surrounded by sheep - dogs must be on leads.
Sadly, we have had to add a few pounds to our charges in 2023 because of the crippling cost of electricity, but we hope you`ll join our other visitors in thinking Greets Farm Campsite is well worth it. It remains just a pocket money enterprise rather than a proper serious business. Our guess is that with increased costs a lot of these special little campsites (that you can often turn up and find yourselves the only ones staying) will disappear - so please support us! Take a look at our website for lots of links and ideas for your visit.
We look forward to welcoming you,
The Lyon Family PS) Please help us tread the fine line of well-kept secret and leave us a review if you visit ... You can always tone your enthusiasm down a bit!

Owner Directions
Travelling on A64 from York in Malton direction. Turn left - signed Welburn and Castle Howard - where road goes from dual to single carriageway. After approx. 500 yards there is the `equine entrance` for a vet`s practice on left. Don`t turn here, but start indicating left. Take next left - adjacent to vet`s `small animal` entrance - up tarmac road with camping signs at bottom.
We live at stone farmhouse at top of tarmac lane. Take green lane to the side of house gate, past stables and up slight slope into field. Please help yourselves. Electric hook-up on left of field and facilities can be found through handgate in bottom corner.
