We are a family run campsite and farm in the middle of stunning West Sussex. An hour south of London, 15 minutes away from the seaside and only 35 minutes from Brighton. We are family friendly and welcome well-behaved dogs.
Campers have private access to the River Adur only a short walk away from the main site, where you can hire kayaks/canoes/paddle boards and an instructor (The Kayak Coach Ltd). A little further down the river, we have built two sets of steps into the river for easy access, one set for going into the water and one set for getting out of the water. These are for the exclusive use of our campers whether you should fancy a swim or wish to use your own boat or board. Please note it is a tidal river and you enter at your own risk. If you dont want to get wet, you can stroll or cycle along the river banks and surround yourself with the Sussex countryside and the rolling South Down hills.
We offer very spacious open plan pitches all across the campsite and a communal area, which we try to keep free of tents where children can play together. We also have delightful Shepherd Huts to rent out, which are to be found in their own wooded area next to the campsite. There is enough space for friends or family to pitch their tent/s next to them. The Shepherd huts are a great addition, especially if you want to bring along any non-camping members of your family, as they come with their own private toilet, cooking facility and either one double or two double beds for a good night's rest. Ideal for a quick, hassle-free getaway. Camping just isn't the same without a campfire. As building a fire on the ground is not permissible, we are happy to rent out fire pits for the weekend, so you can sit around the fire chatting and cooking your own B-B-Q. As foraging for wood disturbs the local wildlife, please bring your own stash of firewood with you. We do sell wood on the campsite if you wish.
We are lucky enough to have The Fountain Inn nearby, which is a vibrant pub with lots of indoor and outdoor seating and very good food. It's a lovely 45-minute walk down by the river, or a quicker 20-minute walk along the road. Please be advised there is no footpath on the side of the road, so we would recommend the scenic route. Your nearest shops (a short 6-minute drive) are in the pretty, historic village of Steyning when you turn left onto the main road or Partridge Green, when you turn right out of the campsite grounds. Both t
Nearby Attractions
This historic corner of England is home to a good number of heritage sites, with particularly pleasing days to be had at Arundel Castle (25 minutes' drive), Lewes Castle (30 minutes) and Fishbourne Palace (50 minutes). Busy, buzzy Brighton (30 minutes) also has old-fashioned curios, like its Pavilion and Volk's Electric Railway. Stick around for modern attractions like the Sea Life Centre and i360 Tower.
Brighton's also where to find several miles of holiday-grade beach (plenty of bars and food joints are located close to the water if you'd rather leave picnic prep for another day). Shoreham-by-Sea beach (15 minutes) has the advantage of being closer and a bit less busy than Brighton's; there's also an interesting 19th-century fort overlooking the harbour that's well worth poking around for an hour or so.
After seaside days of various flavours, head inland for a spor
