Westermill farm is tucked away at the end of a private valley, deep in the rugged heart of the Exmoor National Park. Camp in 14 acres of mown, secluded fields with no set pitches and the freedom to park your vehicle right next to your tent. The campsite is located in the heart of the International Dark Sky Reserve which means you are perfectly located for some excellent stargazing; you just need to look up on a clear night!
Come and see how an Exmoor hill farm works. We have cattle, sheep, pigs, hens, geese and working sheep dogs! There are four way-marked walks, which take you around our 500 acre working farm with fantastic views. After a long days walking, enjoy a piping hot shower. Our family shower rooms and large drying room are perfect for a comfortable camping experience. The hot water is provided by our eco-friendly wood-chip biomass boiler using wood grown on the farm.
Westermill makes an ideal base for exploring the open moorland, wooded valleys and spectacular coastal scenery or just simply for relaxing and escaping the hum drum of everyday life. Visitors can enjoy the peace and serenity of the farm as Westermill does not border any roads. It is a child's paradise. They adore playing in the river, fishing with nets, making dams - while you relax by your tent.
A small seasonal shop opens twice a day during the summer and supplies many of your camping essentials; bread, milk, eggs, bacon and meat (all sourced locally), as well as marshmallows (and wood) for roasting on the campfire.
We accept well behaved dogs and have grazing (bring your own electric fencing to corral) and stabling available for horses.
Come out of season and stay in one of our six cottages, which nestle in grass paddocks. They are warm and cosy and fully heated from the biomass boiler, as well as wood burning stoves.
