Cwmnanthir is a small, family run camp site on the western borders of the Brecon Beacons. The field based site is situated alongside the Nant Hir river adjacent to coppiced woodlands. Buzzards, herons, red kites and other wildlife complement our free range poultry, sheep and waterfowl. We aim to provide a relaxed non commercial atmosphere for you to enjoy.
We welcome friendly dogs (except for unneutered male dogs) who don't chase ducks! and provide space for you to have a campfire.
IMPORTANT sorry but we are in the middle of building work and the campsite is currently shut (2019). I will update this listing when we reopen but to avoid letting anyone down we are currently not taking bookings.
The site is an ideal base for walking holidays or short breaks with several dramatic waterfall walks on our doorstep and PenYFan and the Brecon Beacons being a short drive away. The Dan-yr-ogof show caves and Big Pit provide a good day out for families. Mountain bikers have the Taff trail, Afon Argoed park and the entire Brecon Beacons to explore.
From the A465. Leave this road at Glynneath turn onto the A4109 in the direction of Onllwyn (signs for Dan-yr-Ogof caves). Go straight on at the lights on to the A4109. Follow this road up hill for approximately 2 miles and then after another mile you will come into a 40 mph limit. Turn right into a small lane with rusty iron fence and new tarmac. Follow this road all the way to the end. It is over a mile and quite twisty in places. Eventually you will come to a gate across the road. Drop down the hill and our house is on your left and the camping field is to your right.
