Smithy Caravan Park is set in landscaped grounds and bordered by the River Severn and the Shropshire Union Canal in the scenic countryside of Mid Wales. Our beautiful park has been awarded a Visit Wales 5 Star Grading. We have 60 privately owned caravan holiday homes, but the touring area is separate and has the added benefit of being closest to the river with the best views and a small picnic and seating area on the bank. This area has 26 fully serviced hard standing pitches (13A electricity, drinking water, grey waste and satellite TV hook-ups).
A timber chalet with steps and ramp access is discreetly situated at the end of the touring area, and provides all the sanitary facilities required including a wet room for families and the less able, baby changing facilities, a coin operated laundry, and chemical disposal point.
This well run site has resident wardens and is one of the Bestparks group of Holiday Home & Touring Parks ensuring a warm welcome and a pleasant stay.
The village has a great pub serving good food (check days and times), a shop and a bus service - all within easy walking distance.
Newtown and Welshpool train stations are a short drive or bus ride away so you can explore the Welsh Coast at your leisure, let the train take the strain!
The Aberystwyth and Aberdovey coast is just an hour's drive through the scenic Cambrian hills.
Regular Bus services to Newtown, Welshpool, Shrewsbury and connections Welsh coastal resorts.

Free fishing on the River Severn adjacent to the park, and permits available to fish further upstream if required.
Extensive local walking and cycling with the park being on the Montgomeryshire Canal Path and the Severn Way.
The local community centre offers tennis, bowling and other activities.
Local attractions include Montgomery and Powis Castles and Gardens, Gregynog Hall which holds music festivals and events throughout the year.
Several Market Towns are nearby, Welshpool, Newtown, Machynlleth and Llanidloes. The ever popular historic town of Ludlow is just 40 minutes away and hosts many events throughout the year from the famous Food Festival to Music and the Ludlow Fringe.
Smithy Park is 3 miles north of Newtown in the village of Abermule. Turn off the A483 into village and turn down the lane opposite the village shop, (Premier mini mart.) The Park is at end of lane. O.S.GR: SO161948
