Merthyr Farm is a small, friendly, family run and family orientated campsite set on a working beef & sheep farm in Snowdonia. We offer a quiet, peaceful location with outstanding panoramic views and spectacular sunsets.
We have generous levelled pitches spread over 3 acres of grassy lawned stone wall enclosed fields. 15 of the pitches have EHU.
Caravans, tents & campervans are all welcome. BBQ`s and fire pits allowed as long as they are raised off the ground. We do have firepits for hire and wood for sale.
4 toilets & 3 showers are situated close to the field in a recently refurbished purpose built block which is kept very clean. Two of the showers are in generous family shower rooms. No extra cost for showers.
Our spacious utility room has two large sinks for washing up. There are two large fridges for guests food, a separate freezer (ice blocks only) and plug/USB sockets- all available free of charge. There is a coin operated washing machine and separate tumble drier.

We offer a 10% discount on stays of 4 or more nights outside bank & school holidays. (Discount offered 2/6-19/7 inclusive, and 2nd Sept onwards). We also offer discounts on some stays of ten nights or more during school holidays- contact us for details. During the summer school holidays, electric pitches are mostly offered on a Saturday-Saturday basis, or on Friday/Monday change-overs (3,4,7,10…nights).
We are very flexible on EHU pitches outside school & bank holidays, and on non-electric pitches outside bank holidays but we do have a minimum 2 night stay on weekends, 3 nights BH weekends.
There are three routes up to the farm, one of which is perfectly fine for towing caravans- 40 ton artic lorries get up! Unfortunately SavNav likes to take people up the narrow road so please don`t rely on it if towing. Directions are below, or please visit our website for more details.
Nearby Attractions
There`s something for everyone here from the beautiful unspoilt beaches a short drive away in Harlech & Llandanwg to the many mountains in the area for the more adventurous.
Though small, Harlech itself has plenty to offer- the famous castle, a very well renowned links golf course & several cafes, restaurants and shops.
Portmeirion & Porthmadog are within easy reach by car or train. Porthmadog has shops catering for most of your needs from Tesco/Aldi/Lidl etc to a very well stocked caravan & camping shop. The Ffestiniog narrow gauge railway runs between Porthmadog & Blaenau Ffestiniog offering a train journey through spectacular countryside taking a route away from the roads.
Snowdon, which is prominently visible from the farm, is less than an hours drive along a very scenic road.
Whether coming from the North or the South, stick to the A496 until you reach a staggered crossroads just south of Harlech with Llandanwg on the sea side. Turn up opposite this into Llanfair. Turn left at a 2nd crossroads after 150 yards (bus stop on your right), then after a short distance take the 2nd right (just before a white bungalow). Continue up this road, which at first is lined by houses but soon by fields, without turning off for about 2.5 miles, passing straight through another crossroads halfway up. Once the road reaches the top of the hill & you cross a cattle grid you will shortly arrive at Merthyr Farm. If towing a caravan, please phone in advance if you would like to be guided up.
