The walk (via the Jack and Jill pub) is through beautiful old beech woodland and around Wolstonbury Hill. The Plough is our closest pub at 0.7 miles away and has a huge range of meals and ample dining space in their conservatory.
The Royal Oak in Poynings is a lovely friendly country pub a perfect hours walk away, with scrummy food served all day.
Then there`s the Bull in the historic village of Ditchling, which again is a lovely walk across the downs ridge and taking in Ditchling Beacon (and its ice cream van), Ditchling Museum is pretty cool, and the Open Art Houses on May weekends are delightful. We thoroughly recommend visiting Jo Watters Palowski at No37. Her paintings of this area are divine.
Charleston with its range of interesting events is not far. The old market town of Lewes a serious walk, but well worth it when you get there. Loads of nice food places including an early Bills, plus oodles of antique shops down Cliffe HighStreet, and the old Harvey Brewery. Acres of land around our farm is Open Access with criss crossing footpaths, plus there is a nearby riding school - Three Greys.
