 Usual CAMC facilities and grounds. Spotless and well maintained.
It’s right off the A1M, so there’s some traffic noise.
Used it as a stopover so didn’t venture into Durham.

We stayed here for 4 nights. It’s not somewhere you would choose to go to if you didn’t have things to go to in the area but considering it’s right next to the A1M it’s a great site! We arrived on Saturday afternoon, checked in and went off to find a pitch. Good flat pitches. Well spaced out. One way road system.
On Sunday we went to Chester Le Street Steam Fair, which if you like vintage vehicles and steam engines was excellent. Monday we had the day at Beamish museum, which was great but could do with some information boards explaining more.
Tuesday we drove to the park and ride, which is just across the roundabout (but it’s not a good road to be walking to it) and had a lovely day in Durham, we walked along the river and went inside the cathedral, then into the museum next door and booked a guided tour of the castle, which was very interesting.
Back to site each evening and aside from the road noise which isn’t too intrusive, it’s great. Clean modern shower block, kids play area. Site was mostly pretty well booked up.
My only slight inconvenience is there are fixed head showers, which I really don’t like but hey, I’m in a caravan, I could always have used our own.
Would definitely consider coming to Durham Grange again if I needed to stay somewhere really convenient for the area

Didn't rate the site. Noisy - the adjacent A1(M) is loud & constant, backfiring motorbikes at 0600 a speciality. Light pollution - the adjacent caravan & MH storage area has security lighting that's probably visible from outer space, the lights on the site EHU stanchions aren't necessary. The walk to the P&R is unpleasant & risky, takes 20 mins: you walk 1m from the kerb, cross a dual carriageway, one 2-lane M-way off-ramp and one 2-lane M-way on-ramp. Advice: don't walk, drive there (we just prefer to stay hooked-up). £2. 20 all day return is fantastic value, bus every 15 mins.
Otherwise, the standard CAMC site: friendly welcome, clean & tidy (albeit using too much weedkiller), non-awning pitches are generous - the same size as awning pitches, would benefit from a second WC for when the ladies & gents are being cleaned 10. 30 - 12. 00 as there was often a queue. And expensive.
We enjoyed Bishop Auckland (Bishops Palace, huge walled garden, Faith Museum, Mining Museum, viewing tower etc)- the "Auckland project" has rejuvenated the town. We also enjoyed Ushaw (historic hall where dogs are allowed inside, several chapels etc).
Durham is worth more than the one day we had; we'd go back to the Cathedral (dogs allowed, beautiful post-War stained glass windows), but if we come back we'll look to stay at the CL in town.

Took the caravan there for one night as I wanted to check that every thing was working after not using the van for a few weeks.
The site is really quite good. The staff were very friendly. I chose a hard standing which was almost level, just a slight adjustment fore and aft. The toilets were spotless as usual for a Club site.
The TV signal was very good and I used my mobile phone to tether to my computer for internet access as the signal was excellent and I am never sure whether the fee WiFi will be good enough.
I went into Durham, which is fantastic, by using the Park and Ride which is about half a mile down the road. I drove there as was not sure of there being a footpath to it. Buses run every quarter of an hour and if you have a concessionary pass it will cost nothing as the parking is free.
Other places that I would recommend that are within easy driving distance (there will be buses from Durham to many of them) are: Beamish Museum, The coast - Roker, Seaburn and South Shields. The coast north of the Tyne is also very good. Newcastle is worth a visit and if you like shopping then the Metro Centre is not too far away.
One slight negative that you probably need to know is that there is some road noise which does subside somewhat overnight.

First adventure in our motorhome! Good site well laid out and flat. Excellent facilities as ever and helpful staff.
Not too far from park and ride into Durham
Also found the local social club which has amazing hanging baskets and offers a discount to CAMC members! ( not advertised on site!)

The Paddock At Robsons
A small quiet touring park sitting alongside the River Wear, in a central location for for visiting all the attractions County Durham has to offer. 21 hardstandings and 1 grass pitch all with electric points, for caravans and motorhomes. Shower and Toilet Block and accessible / family shower room. Washing up area. Fresh water point, waste water point, chemical disposal point.
All the facilities of Wolsingham town are within easy walking distance. On site caravan accessory and awning shop and caravan workshop! Dogs are very welcome and there are many walks directly from the site, and it's five minutes to lovely riverside walks. Find out more here

We stayed at this campsite for 3 nights while touring the North country.
The campsite facilities are very clean and tidy, with lovely spacious showers.
The Caravan and Motorhome Club campsites all have the same showers, which are the best we have used and where the water does not keep turning off automatically and you can adjust the heat, rather then be scalded.
The only negative point is the campsite is not in a good location and it is not safe to walk to the Park & Ride, which is only around the corner. We took the motorhome and parked in the Park & Ride car park.
Durham is a nice town with a bit of character. Worth visiting the Beamish Open Air Museum which was very interesting and worth the money.

Very clean and tidy site with warm welcome.
There is some traffic noise though as is very close to A1. But it is ideal for exploring Durham only £2 return on park and ride or about £10 in taxi.
There is a pub and club in walking distance but we didn't go.

Great site for a Stopover or visit to Durham.
Our 3rd visit to this site, never disappoints.
Easy arrival, the site was very quiet so we got a pitch near the toilet block.
Toilets are immaculate, but there was a faulty window near the urinals in the men's that was jammed open, it was -6C outside and it made the whole block cold.
Great dog walk directly from the site, leading to the river path
We will certainly be here again.

Site is located of the busy (and noisy) A1M, usual C&MC standard for facilities, good sized pitches and good TV reception.
Downside is access to Durham without a car. The A690 acts as a main dual carriageway into Durham from the A1M and has no footpath, a meandering riverside walk does exist by the none traffic) route to the riverside involves a good mile walk before accessing the river.
Alternatively a Park & Ride is located on the opposite side on the A1M – again no footpath, so this involves crossing the dual carriageway (twice), and the access route to the A1M (twice) with lots of fast moving traffic.
Having said that the riverside walk through the dense forest is delightful and Durham itself is a little gem. The cathedral is a must visit, plus another riverside walk in the town centre.
Overall handy site as stop off travelling North or South on the A1M, but constant traffic noise, and no really convenient to visit Durham without a car.

Fantastic site, well tended to, tidy and neat
Superb showers toilets etc scrupulously clean
Reasonable price,
Small shop in reception for basics hardstanding and grass pitches
