 Love this site! It is a literally a 5 minute drive into Durham and easy to find, just off the A1 which you can hear in the background but didn't bother us at all. Toilets and showers were absolutely immaculate, this is really important to me as if the wash facilities are great everything else seems to fall into place.

We have just returned from a fabulous long weekend here. I can recommend this site to everyone of all ages. The facilities are first class, staff very helpful and friendly. The park and ride £1.70 per person all day is just a short stroll (over a busy dual carriagway) away.
Tesco's is just a 4 min drive away (ask for a map at reception 10p per sheet)and there is a lovely riverside walk into Durham (map at reception 10p)which takes about an hour. We also went into Durham for the evening and found some nice bars and restaurants and the taxi back to base only cost us £6.00.
We can't wait to return and as this site is only an hour from home and open all year this could become a firm favourite of ours.

Just got back from a few days at this site and found it very clean and tidy, the wardens are friendly and helpful and the shower blocks are immaculate and warm. When we arrived we were too late for a hard standing and had to pitch on the grass which seemed quite firm but I still put the van on grip mats which I was pleased I had as it rained quite hard and the van still sunk slightly but not enough to cause any probs.
The site is close to the A1 and there is some noise from it but it is only in the background and did not bother us. Buses run from the park and ride a short distance from the site 7am to 7 pm and is £1.70 for travel that day under 16s free it does not operate on a sunday. There are buses from carrville high st about 15 mins walk from site on a sunday three times an hour £1.30 each way and walk back to site takes you past the belmont social club which is quite good and welcomes campers.
The main street has fish and chip shop which we did not try but we had chinese take away from mr chengs whose menu we found in the info room on the site and it was very nice.
Durham is a very interesting city with plenty to see and some good walks. There is a good child play area on site and a good riverside walk to durham from the site. All in all a very nice site and we will be back as it is just 1 hour drive away for us.

This was our maiden journey since picking up our van. We couldn't have picked a better site for our first trip. The site was immaculate and staff really helpful and knowledgeable. They directed us to the 'park and ride' and other amenities, giving us advice on the cheapest fares and the safest places to cross roads etc. The toilets were warm and clean with powerful showers and the site well lit, making it easy to find our van in the dark. We walked to the park and ride which took us about 10 mins. The buses ran regularly and on time for Durham City Centre and other destinations. We did a spot of Christmas shopping and ate out. There were lots of places to eat, shop and drink when not taking in Durhams history, without the necessity for a car, as their is plenty of taxis if you don't fancy public transport. Although fairly local we will definitely return.

We stayed at this site for 5 nights and couldn't fault it.
Facilities:
The site was immaculate in all areas and the facilities for young families were fab. The site has a baby/toddler room which has a half size bath on two levels so good for bathing babies or toddlers, It has a large flat workspace area for holding all the bits and bobs you need close to hand when bathing little ones and the loo is a mini loo which my kids (5 3 and 3) thought fabulous! oh and it has a hairdryer too!
The toilet and shower blocks were great too, with an extra shower, toilet and sink cubicle adapted for disabled guests within the communal shower block as well as having a seperate disabled washroom too. The blocks also have (complementary)hairdryers, around 4 in the ladies I think!
The laundry room has only one washer and one dryer plus a large sink for handwashing and an iron and ironing board. It does not have a seperate spin dryer (which I find really useful when touring).
Playground:
The playground for the kids is fantastic, The warden told me it had only been fitted in about a year previously (so not very well advertised when booking this site) and we weren't sure that there was one at all until we got there! (Could do with being added to site particulars). The playground suits all ages my 3 kids (5 3 and 3) loved it, it's all that nice chunky smooth wooden frames with swings, climbing ropes, slides, tunnels, firemans pole, seesaw and those mini roundabout pole things. I would say kids upto about 10 years old would enjoy the park area.
Surrounding area:
The site is close to the motorway but to be honest what traffic noise there was did not bother us at all. The park and ride into durham is literally a 2 minute (if that) drive away, the 2 local retail parks are easy to find (head for Belmont or follow the 'Karting' signposts) there is a tesco extra there along with many other shops and it is literally a 5 minute drive from the site. Durham city is not much further and is a beutiful city with a good selection of shops and lots of nice places to eat out. We also took a walk through the woods by the riverside which was really pretty.
All in all agood site and still plenty to do and see nearby regardless of the weather.

A small quiet touring park sitting alongside the River Wear, in a central location for for visiting all the attractions County Durham has to offer. 21 hardstandings and 1 grass pitch all with electric points, for caravans and motorhomes. Shower and Toilet Block and accessible / family shower room. Washing up area. Fresh water point, waste water point, chemical disposal point.
All the facilities of Wolsingham town are within easy walking distance. On site caravan accessory and awning shop and caravan workshop! Dogs are very welcome and there are many walks directly from the site, and it's five minutes to lovely riverside walks. Find out more here

A very pleasant site just a 2 minute drive from the A1 slip road. Reception is modern, staff helpful. Newspapers and basics can be provided. Entry to the site is via electric barriers operated by key fob. Pitches are grass, serviced or gravel hardstandings. There is a tent area which looked okay. The toilet block was modern and well maintained with adjoining Veg/Dishwashing area and laundry room. There is a small but well provided information room. Would suggest buying 'Wardens map' from reception (10 Pence) has local shops, takeaways, footpaths etc.
'Belmont' Park & Ride is a 10 min walk from the site (NOTE: Footpath crosses dual carriageway, so care is required). Park & Ride operates 7am to 7pm costs £1.70p All day unlimited travel, from ticket machine, bus every 10 mins. Car park has no height barriers and designated Motorhome bays on right hand car parking area, if you prefer. Durham has plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants etc. Also River cruises, Ghost Walks (Summer only) Theatre and Cinema. I recommend guided tour of the Cathedral.
A great site for a few days or as a stopover. Yes being so close to A1 it is noisy but didn't bother us. I also found the 'Shell' Garage opposite the Park & Ride had very reasonable diesel (£1.21p). Enjoy!

Lovely site, very pleasant staff, excellent play area for children. A good place if your kids tend to attract the mud as the roads in site are newly tarmaced and all plots seem to be hard standing. Cant really hear noise from A1

Just got back from a weekend break at this site. It only took us half an hour drive from where we live so very handy and straight off A1. The couple who welcomed us were lovely and I had requested a fully serviced pitch via the booking site and sure enough he said there was one left.
We also ordered our papers for the sunday morning which we thought was a great touch. The pitch itself was excellent off a smooth tarmac road and plenty of 'clean' gravel - not boggy and wet like a few sites we have stayed at recently. The shower and toilet blocks were excellent, spotless and unlimited hot water. Like some people have said there is a constant noise from the A1 which didnt bother us but I think if we had stayed any longer than 2 nights it might have become a problem.
It was just a quick weekend break for us to basically do nothing so this site served us well but any longer a stay and I would have gone for a site with a bit more character and some places nearby within walking distance. But all in all a lovely little site.

We have visited this site many times and it is always spotless, and the site managers go out of their way to help, and make sure a disabled visitor is close to the showers,water and elsan points.
It is a quiet site, although it is close to the A1 and the Main Durham road. It is also a short walk to the Park and Ride for Durham,
We shall certainly be visiting this site again

The Grange was the first site we visited with our caravan - we upgraded from a tent. It was easy to find, the wardens were nice and friendly.
Toilet/Shower facilities were excellent - spotlessly clean and tidy and well maintained.
The Park and Ride is in easy access of the site and Durham is a lovely place to visit with the Cathedral and University.
There was a Tesco Superstore close by, although we struggled to find it on the first night and ended up at Pizza Hut, much to the children's delight.
All in all a nice site, especially if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing week-end. Would visit again.
