We loved the location, the view was amazing. There is a public footpath through the fields of horses, 🐎which leads to a little village called Baldron it has a community run pub called the pinfold club easy to get to if you fancy a wander.
The amount of rabbits around is crazy. 🐇Lee the New owner was so helpful and such a nice guy he is making this site better all the time putting the time and effort in on site. 👏👏
The facilities are basic but adequate, 1 shower in each of the men's and ladies and plenty of toilets for the size of camp.
Some of the pitches of better than others some uneven through the rabbits I think digging holes, and lots of prickly weeds ours was good after we cleared the prickles as our dogs didn't like them under foot. ⛺️
The site is located next to a busy duel carriageway but it didn't bother us in the slitest or the rabbits. 😊
It was very quiet on camp for most of the week which we loved. The second weekend quite a few groups came and enjoyed there evenings going into the early hours singing and chatting.
I would definitely recommend visiting there are some lovely places nearby to get out into nature too. Thank you Lee.

Lovely little site directly off the A66, currently with 2 HS and 3 grass pitches, all spacious and with EHU.
Additional pitches in development. Ideal for overnights on long journeys or for exploring the area: Barnard castle, Teesdale etc.
Great views over open country from all the pitches. Friendly welcome.
Only small downside is that there is some noise from the adjacent A66, though not enough to disturb us.

Excellent little site, basically just a field with grass which had been unused for some time when I visited so was very comfortable. The noise from the almost adjacent dual carriageway would have been a nuisance had I not taken ear plugs.
The attractive town of Barnard castle is 2½ miles away, all down hill, with the excellent cycling and walking country of the north Pennines just beyond.
Mark, the host, was friendly, chatty, helpful and got me out of a tight spot with a cycle problem. The toilet and shower is rustic, in a lean-to by the adjacent farm house but at the time of my visit Mark was busy constructing a shower block in the camping field. Extremely reasonably priced too, I'll be back.

The site was lovely and clean. Excellent toilet block with showers that had endless supply of hot water.
Thought the traffic would have been noisy but slept well and didn't notice it.
Would stay again.

Good site the ground was a bit tough for tent pegs but overall it was a great location. Sarah the owner is on hand and is very helpful.
Toilets/showers are very clean too but can be a bit far from your pitch. It is noisy being so near the A66.
Would recommend and return

Cross Keys is a lovely small campsite with magnificent views across the valley to Barnard castle and Bowes Museum.
There are 6 well distanced pitches with 6 more currently under construction, amply catered for by a newly erected toilet, shower and service block. Site owner Sarah was very friendly and helpful.
We particularly liked the friendly welcome from the locals at the community run Pinfold Club, open Fri, Sat and Sun.
The only downside is it's proximity to the A66 and consequent traffic noise, though you do build up a resistance to it over time.

We had a great stay here; we arrived in very windy conditions and had Sarah (the host) not come to our rescue, the tent may have ended up being a kite!
This is a really lovely and small site. We had a pitch that had electric hook up and fresh water tap.
There is a very clean toilet and shower block (With very hot water for the shower) as well as a pot washing area.
The views were awesome and Sarah was very kind in recommending places to visit and eat that were dog friendly.
We’d definitely visit again.
