 Weve never been to Barnard castle before so found this site a couple of miles away, what a lovely place.
Sarah is so helpful & friendly & suggested a place to eat (Fox Hall inn, lovely food about 10 mins drive on the A66) ok the site is just off the A66 which can be noisy but you do get used to it.
The showers are clean with plenty hot water, good recycling facilities. Lovely walks & village nearby & handy for Barnard castle.
Only 6 spots at the moment but expanding to 12. Only problem we can see is getting a spot as it gets more popular!

Great little site and some of the previous reviews are outdated.
Under new management, Sarah was lovley. The site is expanding and I think there are 4 more plots being made. 3 male showers, 3 female showers. Lovely litter set up, clean and well kept. We would return.
Great view of Barnard castle and the valley. You are right on the A66 so if road noise bothers you then don't go. You do get used to it though All in all its a great site.

This is a little gem of a site! Central to so many attractions! Sarah was a lovely host.
The facilities were first class.
Road noise a little loud at times. But it did not spoil our stay!

Sarah was so facilitating and welcoming. We had numerous changes to our booking but she did her best to accommodate.
The site has wonderful views and plenty of walking areas. The facilities are kept to the highest level of cleanliness.
It is a lovely quiet retreat for a young family, even with the A66 being close. A wonderful way to experience rural Co Durham and North York Dales.

The Paddock At Robsons
A small quiet touring park sitting alongside the River Wear, in a central location for for visiting all the attractions County Durham has to offer. 21 hardstandings and 1 grass pitch all with electric points, for caravans and motorhomes. Shower and Toilet Block and accessible / family shower room. Washing up area. Fresh water point, waste water point, chemical disposal point.
All the facilities of Wolsingham town are within easy walking distance. On site caravan accessory and awning shop and caravan workshop! Dogs are very welcome and there are many walks directly from the site, and it's five minutes to lovely riverside walks. Find out more here

Fabulous, site very friendly owners, who went the extra mile.
Brilliant views not spoiled by the hum from the road.
Lovely situation handy for touring. We were lucky to be the only campers.

Very friendly owner though we only saw him once, stunning view towards Barnard Castle from the site.
Negative points are noise from the A66 and long walk to the facilities,
I also thought it a bit expensive for what you got!

This campsite is a shambles, there is only 1 toilet and 1 shower, you have to walk along a muddy field to get to the toilet and if you don't have a torch or a lantern to see where you are going then you won't no where you are going as there are no lights from the gate to the toilet,
There is no heating in the toilet or shower and if you wanted a shower there is no lock on the outside door which means anyone could just walk in while your in the shower as male and females share the same shower.
I would not go back to that campsite nor would I recommend this campsite to anyone else.
This campsite cost me £84 for 2 motorhomes for 2 nights and all we had use of was the electric and a few trips to the toilet.

Just returned from a fantastic weekend at this camp site. We booked as a group and were all together.
Site is well kept and owners were very helpful, we loved that we could have campfires in equipment provided. Views were stunning the whole weekend was very relaxing just what we needed.
There was some road noise from A 66 but you get used to it. The only downside for us was the longish walk downhill (thankfully), to the elsan point.
We also thought the gate didn't open and we had to lift the cassette over the style to get into the enclosure, (was quite funny). The gate does open and you can just walk in :) We would definitely go back.
We didn't leave the site all weekend it was so lovely.

This site is a work in progress, it only opened at the end of last year, so this is their first real season, but if they carry on the way they are going its gonna be a gem!
The views over the Tees Valley are spectacular, with a view of Bowes Museum that not many will ever see.
The showers are clean and well maintained, although attached to the rear of the owners property.
Electric hookups and water to all the main pitches, the tent area does not have these but water points are easily acessible.
Most of all, the friendly welcome is what made the stay worthwhile.
