 This is a lovely campsite set out over a large feild. The toilet / shower facilities are a porta cabin and are immaculate, always stocked with toilet roll! The bins are emptied regular and the site as a whole is very clean and tidy.
Hawkshead village is about 1/2 a mile walk with plenty of pubs. Ideal location for mountain biking through Grizedale forest and also near to the larger towns. The owners never allow the site to become overcrowded which means you never feel like your crammed in as there is plenty of room.
You can book in advance if you are staying for two nights or more if not its on a first come first served basis. I would highly reccomend this site. The owners also do regular rounds of the site throughout the day and night to make sure there is no problems / loud music etc.

This is a lovely site. We arrived here on the Friday night having booked for a 3 night stay. The sign said 'site full' but it didnt appear to be that way, which was great. They seem to have a limit on the number of units, regardless of size, allowed and when they get to that number they stop allowing people in. I would strongly recommend booking during peak times.
The toilets/showers are in a porta cabin and are a little limited, only 2 showers for the gents, so you may have to queue sometimes. The toilets / showers themselves are very clean.
The site is only a five minute walk across the field into Hawkshead village which has lots of good pubs and shops selling almost everything.
The campsite itself does have a few slopes so a late arrival may find a bit of rolling around in your sleeping bag. There is a milkman that visits every morning around 10.30 selling most fresh dairy produce. The kids waited for him each morning as if he was Santa!
The campsite is very well kept but I would recommend a few more bins around the place so we dont have to walk so far. There are a number of water points around the site and a covered washin up area.
The site is perfectly situated for walking and cycling. We spent 2 days doing both in Grizedale Forest 5 miles away. The kids loved this site. It is a lovely family site, No groups allowed, with a noise curfew that seemed to be kept.
It is a working farm so you are likely to be woken to the noise of the cows or sheep early in the morning. We will visit again and would highly recommend.

This was my first time camping. We went as a couple and my partner hadn't camped for a number of years. We obviously looked like the novices that we are as a couple of friendly people came and helped us erect our tent. We would still be there now if they hadn't!
Fantastic views from the site. Facilities basic but spotless ( and I am VERY fussy!) Seemed to be mainly families. A little noisy but what do you expect with kids running about. Site is advertised as families only but it appeared a couple of groups had slipped through the net! They were very rowdy during the day but quietened down later which is all you can ask - live and let live!
Would definitely recommend for a couple of nights stay. We ate at The Sun Inn in Hawkshead Village and it was good value pub grub!

The toilet and shower block on the site are kept very clean, hot water and plenty of toilet paper. Washing up block is clean and under cover for when it is raining. The owners are very helpful. The prices are indicated on a board when you enter the site together with a few rules. The only caution being the entrance you have to be very careful on the narrow road when walking as it is on a blind corner. Within walking distance of Hawkshead where the food can be expensive. We have been to this site before and will definitely be coming again. Brilliant.

The campsite had basic showers and toilets but they were clean and hygienic. The campsite owners were very hospitable and even found us a place to pitch even though it was fully booked.
The campsite does have quite a few slopes but flat pitches can also be found. The views at the campsite were spectacular and it's only five minutes walk into Hawkshead town.
Showers are free, as is electricity for hairdryers etc.
There are cafes, shops and pubs all nearby. The Queen's Head offers the best pub food. It's moderately expensive but the food is delicious.
Beatrix Potter's house is just a short walk away.
We would not hesitate to go back again for another stay in the near future. The pricing is very good - just £12.50 per night for two adults, car and tent - even in peak season.
Highly recommended.

A nice campsite which is fine if staying for a couple of nights. The toilets / showers are in a portacabin which were clean and well lit although on the small side. However, that is it as far as facilities go - no playground or on site pub but Hawkshead (a 5 min walk away) had a co-op and places to eat/drink. A few water taps were dotted around the site.There were 2 wash up sinks which had plenty of hot water.
The site is not far from the ferry crossing on Windermere. About a 10 minute drive.
Becareful, the campsite isn't that level. Most tents were pitched on a slight slope. We were lucky to get a level pitch.
For the price, an excellent site. If going to the Lakes again I would most likely use this site again if staying for a couple of nights.

This was a lovely quiet site, only minutes in the car from Hawkshead.
The toilet facilities are basic, within a portacabin; there are four toilets and two showers for females and the same for males, but they are spotlessly clean and there was always plenty of hot water for showers.
There are only two sinks for washing up, but we never had to wait; again, plenty of hot water.
It is quite an undulating field, but big enough to find a suitable pitch. We were moaning that the grass could do with a cut when we arrived - this was promptly done, but unfortunately on a day that rained and there was grass everywhere!
A milkman calls daily around 11am, selling milk, juice, milkshakes and so on, which is great when you have no way of keeping milk fresh.
It was advertised as a 'family' site, but there were quite a few young couples and groups of young people, but in fairness, the campsite was silent after 10.30pm and a member of staff did a final 'sweep' anyway, around 11pm.
If you don't want frills, then this is an excellent site for quiet camping and we would definitely recommend it.
