Stayed here first weekend of August 2010 with our two children (aged 6 and 4)

Good points were friendly staff, lovely location surrounded by woods, lots of space for kids to play, real fires allowed (though as nearly everyone has them it's pretty smokey when there's no wind)

Bad points were the facilities seemed stretched for the number of campers on site. The bins were very full (to the point where it was hard to get more stuff in) and the hot water for showers and washing up was only luke warm. There is only one toilet and shower block which was a few minutes walk from the lower field where we were staying.

Overall, a lovely site but could do with an upgrade to cater for its popularity.

Pretty Awful place really. The showers and facilities are dire and in short supply for a site of this size.

Whilst we have no objection to the odd campfire when there are 100 + fires blazing away with small children running hither and thither until all hours of the night this is a pretty dangerous thing.

Not withstanding the need for so many to turn up their music so loud until so late and indulge in drunken behaviour with poor language. I really cannot understand why families with children would ever want to attend this location.

Being a huge site there is no problem finding a spot to pitch, but it is likely to be hundreds of yards from the aformentioned 'facilities'

It is a pity that after ringing around all day on Friday and being unable to find a location in North Norfolk available but for Breck Farm, that we ever turned up.

Left after two days as the 'facilities' were so dire that we had to seek somewhere to just get properly clean.

Was there any good points? Yes possibly. If the site set itself up in a slightly more organised, clean and disciplined manner and provided better facilities, the location is actually quite satisfactory and with good walks and woods available a family could have a really good holiday here.

The location is cheap, but an extra pound or so reinvested would bring massive rewards.

We booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for 7.

This site was perfect for us.

The main area near the facilities seemed busy to us but, we found ourselves plenty of space in the bottom field, where the kids could run around safely and without disturbing too many other people.

The thing we felt made this site better than so many others was the freedom it offered. There are some common sense rules, but not too many, just enough I suppose that if things ever did get out of hand they would be within their rights to step in.

This site does have plenty of facilities but they are nearly all in one place, which again we found good as you could find quiet.

A campfire here is a must and they sell wood and marshmallows at the farm house.

There is no play ground as such but the site is bordered by woodland that has a trim trail and nature trail running through from the neighbouring Kelling Heath Site. I can't imagine a child getting bored here but.

We will definitely be returning to what feels like a good old fashioned campsite!

Stayed for 4 nights at Breck Farm and what a brilliant experience - Camping as it should be!

The relaxed atmosphere and spacious camping area was a far cry from some sites we have experienced recently which cram in as many units as possible often at the expense of privacy.

Breck Fram gave us all the space we needed at a price that was extremely reasonable and they allowed campfires too which the children loved.

OK the facilities may not as been as luxurious as some other sites but neither was the price!

However, the water was hot, the showers plentiful and the further fields do now have a few 'emergency toilets' around the edge which were perfectly adequate for our purposes.

The site was ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Norfolk coastline. We loved Sheringham's town and beach and the children loved the number of crabs that we able to be scrutinised in the rock pools!

It was also nice not to have to commit to a minimum 7 night stay which many sites ask for during the school holidays.

Keep up the good work Breck Farm - we loved you!

A hidden treasure in the heart of the north norfolk coastal area. This is a fantastic site, with good facilities, and although it is busy, you don't feel at all cramped or crowded. We felt very relaxed and comfortable here, and would most definitely use again, and recommend to friends.

One of the main attractions is that camp fires and dogs are allowed, and there is a strict noise curfew, so you can be sure of a relaxing break.

Also plenty to see locally if you intend to stay for more than a couple of days.

Had a good 4 night's break with 2 young children. Loved the freedom of being able to pitch where you want and the space available - we had a big A-frame tent and 2 cars, and it was school hols. Have looked at some of the other reviews and have to say we didn't find the camp fires a problem. The easy-going attitude of the owners does appear to attract groups and noise was an issue on one night (although one of the patrols did rectify this).

Was a bit put-off by the conditions and smell from the chicken shed - although away from actual camp area it wasn't very pleasant (I have chickens at home!)

The toilet block was just about ok - washing up facilities fine but toilets, and especially showers, could have been cleaner (very muddy). Toilet sheds in the field needed a good clean and were rather smelly but it was our choice to pitch away from main block. I found 1 shower token was fine for me and hot water was always available.

Lots and lots of space for children to run around and play - cricket, frisbee, fly kites - and good walks in the woods nearby. Can use shops and swimming facilities at 2 other sites v. Nearby (have to pay, within walking distance).

Swimming in nearby Sheringham leisure pool was brilliant.

Owners very usefully put up tide and weather information daily.

Would have liked it cleaner but will probably visit again (with dettol wipes!).

Our first time here. We arrived thursday night and the site was fairly busy. A well looked after site, with about 3 large fields that our opened up due to amount of people. No need to book due to size of place. Fire pits allowed so was great for my young family. Friday more people arrived and then saturday place was full. Quite noisy but that's understood.

Good facilities, purchase wood, eggs and other things from the farm house. Washing facilities on site where clean and the was a toilet very close to the far end of campsite.

Campers where asked not to collect fire wood from forest or have fires on the ground but a lot had the holiday brain in: i.E. Oh sorry didn't know, but you could see lots of scored areas around. Ground quite hard so hard ground pegs needed. Loads of things to do locally north norfolk coast a must, blakeney for seals, sea palling, waxham for a great walk and seal spotting. East runton for surfing and a great little greek restaurant (book first).

Would go again

Visited this campsite this weekend (1st weekend of school holidays) as we had friends up and thought it would be nice to go away together for a nights camping. As we had left it to the last minute it seemed as though it was going to be an impossibility to get one pitch somewhere local let alone two but Breck Farm advertises that 'they are very rarely full' so I rang them and indeed they said space wasn't a problem.

Arrived at 11am Saturday morning and paid for 2 pitches and 6 people, very reasonably priced, campsite owners were very friendly people and told us to pitch anywhere apart from the EHU area. I must admit than when I drove into the campsite and saw how huge it was and how many tents and people there were I did think we were going to have problems with noise etc but I was wrong.

We pitched in the area where we could have a campfire, although it was extremely busy there were plenty of areas to pitch where we weren't on top of other people and there still seemed to be plenty of space.

There is only one (large) toilet/shower block on this site which is right near the entrance and it can be a very very long trek to use the facilities but having said that we were only there for one night so it wasn't a problem. The facilities are basic, in a massive barn type construction with concrete floors, breeze block walls etc no tiles, but having said that I thought they were clean and only once when I visited had they run out of toilet paper in a couple of toilets. Considering the amount of peole I thought there would be queues but I didn't encounter any.

Went for a nice walk through the woods Saturday afternoon to Kelling Heath.

There was a really nice ambience about the site there seemed to be just a gentle buzz of conversation around the campfires, odd cackle of laughter but nothing to keep us awake, everyone seemed very respectful of fellow campers and by 11pm the chatting was very minimal.

I would definitely visit again, it was very laid back and I loved the campfire (even though we stank of it) and the common-sense approach that the owners seemed to have. A great site for a weekend with friends and family to just chill and enjoy each others company.

Visited this campsite this weekend to see family and so glad we did before we booked to stay ourselves (it was in my virtual brochure).

For those of you that enjoy basic camping and facilities, lots of noise, and lots of smoke from campfires then the site is perfect for you. However, for those of you that enjoy a more peaceful break and nice shower and toilet facilities like me, I would definitely not recommend.

To be fair, it was very busy at the site (first weekend of the school holidays) but even so, the showers looked very grubby with muddy floors as you stepped into the shower. The toilets were not much better and I had to go into several cubicles before finding a clean one and one with loo paper. Also, if you camp at the far end of the site, it an awful long way to walk to the toilet in the middle of the night although there are several universal sheds spotted around at the far end.

Then there were the campfires! All seemed a really good idea when we got there in the afternoon but as soon as the sun set, fires were being lit everywhere and the smell of bonfire smoke too much to bear. Our cloths reeked of it when we left.

On the plus side, everyone was very friendly on the site and the kids loved it. My 4 year old neice was able to collect eggs from the chickens in the morning which she thoroughly enjoyed. Again, if you don't mind roughing it, then I am sure you will enjoy the site. Definitely not for me though. Sorry.

This campsite is very big, very noisy and very smoky. Great if there is a large group of you and you want to party. Not so good if you are looking to get away from it all and have a quite nights sleep!

We only stayed for one night as we wanted somewhere quieter by the sea. The owners were friendly and there were plenty of toilets in the toilet block but had to queue to use a sink most times. There is only one toilet block on the site.

Would be a good site if there were a lot of you or you had kids.

This campsite is ideal for those that like their camping basic but with excellent facilities. The owners are friendly and helpful and the camping is free and easy, no regimentation or rules here. Just common sense. This was our third visit.

Breck Farm is a working farm 10 minutes drive from Sheringham and close to the North Norfolk coast. A footpath runs along the edge of the site to the coast.

The farm has several large fields set aside for tents and caravans and, on one field, camp fires are allowed.

There is a large toilet block with several w.C.'s, showers and wash-up facilities together with freezers for ice blocks. The showers require a 50p token purchased at the shop. There is ample hot water for a leisurely shower. The facilities are new and kept clean and well serviced. There is a small shop selling logs, potatoes, eggs and marshmallows.

The owners drive around the site a couple of times a day and are always on hand if required. The site can get very busy at weekends and noise can be a problem.

Along the coast there are magnificent walks, cycling, excellent bird-watching, seal trips and the North Norfolk Railway is very close at Weybourne and Sheringham.

There are also many excellent pubs in the area, all a short drive away. To name three - The George at Cley, The Wheatsheaf at West Beckham and the King's Head at Letheringsett.

Friendly staff who were quite honest in their description of the site. I was after a site that was quiet and allowed open fires to convince my girlfriend that camping was an option.

The site is very large and laid-back, as a consequence it is rather noisy. Lots of families were on the site and the kids seemed to have a good time, although I did not notice any facilities for them - just lots of space to let off steam.

At the time we camped in July there was a large toilet/shower block near the farm and the majority of the tents and caravans were quite closely pitched within walking distance. Not being sociable types we pitched close the woods at the very opposite corner, which was much quieter but made for a very long walk to the shower block. I saw several cars (one of which belonged to my girlfriend!) drive to the shower block. Some construction was just starting next to our pitch as we left and I wonder if they are adding a new block. The toilet block is fine, if rough and ready. There are freezers for your ice packs - but I never saw mine again!

The surrounding area is lovely and we were particularly impressed with the village shops. Most seem to be upping their game with local produce and the quality of their deli-counter, which puts our local Peak District to shame. I would suggest that you really need a car if you are going to base yourself here for a week.

We would probably not go back as it is a bit too busy for us, but if you don't mind a bit of noise and enjoy a fire I would recommend it.

My first visit, two weeks in Norfolk ahead of me, ok the start of the school holidays unfortunately. But I had read previous reviews and was expecting a pleasant stay and the idea of a camp fire was something that attracted us. But frankly I found a site of absolute chaos.

Good: - People in the farm house really friendly, camp fire atmosphere was very good, was amazingly quiet after 10.30pm probably because there were so many families.

But. It was so so so busy

Only place to pitch was right in the centre of a field a significant distance from the facilities and completely surrounded by other tents on all sides, the pitch consisted of weeds and places where previous fires had been lit on the ground. No pitch system, you just put it up wherever you like.

Shower block was in a state, you pay for tokens for the showers but the hot water ran out anyway if you were later than 8.30am to grab your shower, all of which were dirty, only one chap cleaning them out once a day. The fires which first attracted me were beautiful to look at but because there were so many the smoke was often overpowering.

Local area is very pleasant but no pub within walking distance walking is a joy but avoiding private land is rather difficult.

Off season I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more

Our second visit to Breck farm and it was all that we had encountered last time, but a bit better.

The site has an excellent toilet and shower block, functional and clean with separate sinks inside and outside to do washing up in. The showers are 50p a token, which gives you 4-5 minutes of hot water, ok so maybe someone gets the occasional short shower, but mine were far longer than I needed and I don't begrudge the extra coins when the overnight rate is so reasonable and the atmosphere and setting so relaxed.

A nominal charity donation for using the freezers (3 of them available) for your cool-blocks, eggs, potatoes, wood, marshmallows all sold at the farm and an information board and lots of leaflets all in the foyer of the toilet block helps keep you up to date with the week's weather, local activities, eateries etc.

The top field has mostly EHU plots but some not, and doesn't allow campfires, whereas the lower fields, massive and yet still well sheltered, do allow campfires and spreading out of groups; so unless you choose something ridiculous like the August Bank Holiday, you should find ample room to fit with your preferences and not see too much disruption from your neighbours.

The kids loved having walks in the woods, swinging on a rope, jumping over logs, things that don't need a wire and an LCD screen to enjoy! We sat and quietly contemplated the enormous skies as the darkness slowly came at about half ten at night, and enjoyed seeing the various little fires around the fields.

The local area is blessed with some lovely towns and villages. Try Sheringham for the beach, Holt for shopping and Wiveton for some absolutely fantastic PYO fruit and restaurant / tapas bar and just explore North Norfolk a little; you won't regret it!

Just came back from this site and I have to say, it is very clean and well run. The toilets and showers were impeccable throughout our stay, and the owners are very friendly and helpful.

The only complaint I have is that there is not a local shop within walking distance, so we had to use the car quite a lot, as we didn't have any refrigeration for milk and vegetables etc.
